Configurable General Task List

Hello experts,

I have created a Configurable General Maintenance Tasklist. Object

dependencies have been set up to control which operations are used

based on the characteristic values within the variant class. I have

created a configuration profile for the tasklist and assigned the

variant class (without characteristic values). An equipment has been

created and classified using the same variant class.

I created a work order for the equipment and imported the configurable

tasklist. A value assignment screen appears and, if I manually select

the characteristic values, the correct operations are imported (as per

the rules set by the object dependancies).

The issue is, I want the characteristic values to default from the

reference object (equipment) in the order. This is not occurring, and

not sure what is missing.

Your help will be appreciated.

Best regards,

Alfredo Pedroza

Hi Alfredo,

I think in standard scenario you always will have to enter charecteristics value to select dependent operations. i.e.whenever you will create maintenance order with configurable task list you need to enter the characterstic values.

Hi Sundar,

So, based on what you are saying it seems that it is not possible to use configurable general task list for preventive maintenance, once no values might be determined during the automatic generation of work orders. Do you think this is a true statement?

Thank you for your reply.

No, it is not true..

You can use configurable task lists in conjunction with planned maintenance where the characteristics are determined from the equipment.

So, probably the key is on defining a configurable material, assigning the 300 class to it, and referrencing it to the equipment record. I'm working on this right now, and I'll let you know what resulted on this experiment.

Thank you !

Yep, that sounds about right..

Pete,

It worked !! You have to create a configurable material, assign it to a configuration profile, and then assing the configurable material to the equipment record, along with the characteristic value. I tried with a maintenance plan, and the selection of the operations on the work order worked just fine.

Thank you very much for your help.

Alfredo

No worries.

Yes it is a lot of messing around - but it does work...

If you get chance it would be nice if you could write down all the steps/TCodes required to help others in the future.

Here we go. This is the list of necessary steps to create a configurable general task list (super task list):

I. Define classification data

I.1 Create characteristics that will influence the selection of an operation on a work order (CT04)

I.2 Create class type: 300 (CL02)

I.3 Assign influencing characteristics to class 300 (CL02)

II. Create object dependencies (selection conditions)

II.1 Create individual dependency -per each variation of the characteristic value (CU01)

(Example: 00010: <Characteristic1 name> = 'RED' AND <Characteristic2 name> = 'RECP")

II.2 Change the status of the dependency -to released (CU02)

III. Create configurable material

III.1 Create configurable material -SAP standard type = KMAT (MM01)

III.2 Create configuration profile for the material (CU41)

III.2.1 Enter name, Class Type, and Status

III.2.2 Assign Class to configuration profile

III.2.3 Enter value for the characteristic

IV. Assign configurable material to equipment record

IV.1 Access Equipment record (IE02)

IV.2 Activate "Configuration Data" tab: Edit> View Selection; check "Configuration" box

IV.3 On "Configuration Data" tab, enter configurable material defined

IV.4 Verify characteristic value is entered

V. Create configurable general task list

V.1 Create general task list (IA05)

V.2 Assign object dependencies to operations: Extras> Object dependencies> Assignments

V.3 Create configuration profile for the task list (CU41)

V.3.1 Enter name, Class Type, and Status

V.3.2 Assign Class to configuration profile

VI. Create maintenance order

VI.a Create manual work order (IW31)

VI.a.1 Assign configurable task list to the work order

VI.b Automatic creation of work order from a maintenance plan

VI.b.1 Create maintenance plan (IP41, IP42 or IP43)

VI.b.2 Assign configurable general task list to the plan

VI.b.3 Schedule maintenance plan (IP10)

VI.b.4 Generate automatic work order from maintenance plan (IP30)

(Thank you again PeteA!)

Hi Sundar,

Thank you for sharing this and this setup is working without flaw. I just wonder if we can do similar case for FL instead of equipment? Trying to find out how to assign KMAT to FL in transaction IL02, but can't find any clue. Appreciate any help / information around it

Thanks & regards
