We are implementing an S/4Hana System in the public cloud and would like to replicate employees from an external system using the API. We have now found that by activating SAP_COM_0301 it is possible to maintain contingent workers in the public cloud. However, these should not be maintained in the external HR system, as there is no customer master data available, which is mandatory for contingent workers when it is created in the public cloud. Is there a solution for this?

It seems that you want to use SOAP API Replicate Basic Master Data for Workforce from External HR Systems to create workers in S/4HANA Cloud system. 

For contingent workers, supplier data is a mandatory field. "no customer master data available" is that mean there is no supplier available for this contingent worker in your external HR system?

Contingent Worker concept in S/4HANA Cloud system can be found in SAP Help Portal - Contingent Worker Characteristics.

Hi Christian,

You can use API-based creation of workforce or Excel-Upload in parallel. If I understand you correctly, you could import employees with SAP_COM_0301 from your HR system. And the contingent workers you could import via Excel templates. 

You mention there is no "customer master data" available, do you mean supplier master data? I assume for the contingent worker you rather need the relation BBP005 to a supplier.
