Dear Experts,
We are looking at options on how users can enter comments against data points in Group Reporting on prem version 2020.
Creating custom fields is one option, a comments custom field can be created. However this can be used for input through flat files.
Would it be possible to build planning enabled queries on Group Reporting CDS views and allow users to enter comments through those.
Appreciate any inputs.

Vineet

Vineet,
Its good to know you have been able to decide on a solution and there are so many choices out there since SAP S/4 HANA Finance is the most intelligent ERP platform in the planet offering so many options that we only need to "CONNECT" with our imagination where imagination is the limit only, quite unlike other technologies like Oracle , IBM Cognos where everything is restricted(:-
Thanks
Kind Regards

Hi Vineet,
Accountants prefer to use Microsoft Analysis for Office which is Excel based called AFO to readily connect to the different queries of S/4 HANA Finance and download the information into Excel by choosing the required measures, and dimensions etc and they can easily add their comments by adding another column for example say while performing variance analysis comparing actual to forecast or budget.
They can create a report and save it and run it to refresh the data inside whenever they want and change their comments accordingly and share the report with others for collaboration.
In fact AFO connects with the same queries which Fiori does and so the information is the same.
Also we can export the Fiori queries into Excel as well and enter our comments.
There are plenty of easily available alternatives for just entering comments which also keeps on changing.
Development activity sometimes can be time consuming due to testing and expensive as well.
Thanks

Thanks for the response Somnath,
Using AFO was suggested approach.
Unfortunately with 100s of legal entity this approach is very difficult for Group Accountants to manage. Having 100s of variants of the same report for comments is quite an overhead.
So we are looking at an option to persist the comments in the ACDOCU table.
