#COE Recommendation requested for field to indicate 'primary use' for business partners

Hi,

All our business partners, no matter if it's a customer or a supplier, are getting the 5 roles below by default. We do that to enable always reversed flows (e.g.: a supplier is also a customer to enable the 'return to supplier' flow).

What's now less convenient, is that apps like for example 'Display Customer/Supplier list' are showing both business partners. Moreover, when we now want to interface to C/4, we only want the 'real customers' to be interfaced.

I'm looking for a field to indicate the 'primary use' (customer or supplier) for which we can make the distinction in those apps as a filter, and to select on for interfacing to C/4. I was thinking about 'BP Type' (it's always available in the general 'Business partner' role, it's available in the 'Display Customer/Supplier list'), but it cannot be customized in 'Manage Your Solution'.

Can you advise please?

o Business Partner (Gen.)

o Customer

o Customer (Fin.Accounting)

o Supplier

o Supplier (Fin.Accounting)

Hi kmattheyssen

For Interfacing with any application outside of S4HC, we have a whitlested Business Partner API for Customer distinction as well Supplier distinction. This will help you with Real Customer segregation from Business partner.

https://api.sap.com/api/API_BUSINESS_PARTNER/resource: /A_Customer or /A_Supplier.

In addition to that we also have Whitelisted CDS view: I _Customer or I_Supplier that you could use within the S4HANA Cloud Tenant for reporting/Analytical capability if that is another option you would like to consider within your System.

However, as ‎@Varun mentioned, may be, we might not have direct intervention either through SSCUI or app itself.

Thank you!

Hi,

There is no field to indicate primary use as required by you. BP Type(BUT000-TYPE) means if a BP is “Person” or “Organization” or “Group”.

Hi,

we did a further investigation today and found that field BP Type highlighted by you can be used to determine whether it is a real customer or supplier. However, there is no SSCUI available in S/4HANA Cloud yet to configure the values for this field.

Also, I had an initial check and this field was not available in the Web-service Business Partner - Replicate from SAP S/4HANA Cloud to Client.

You can refer to https://help.sap.com/viewer/3c916ef10fc240c9afc594b346ffaf77/2002.500/en-US/9110f0ec-e7dd-4abb-add8-... for fields currently supported.

I shall investigate further and let you know

Thanks for replying. Which other fields can you recommend then?
