#COE #BA01 Closing a Cost Center referenced by historical postings

Hello,

We have several instances where we've created a cost center which we no longer use for postings and while we want it to be reflected historically in management reporting and old project elements referenced by that reporting, we don't want users to see it when they are making new postings.

We have changed the primary and secondary posting toggles to prevent posting and we'd also like to change the valid to date to be the end of July 7/31/2023 to restrict the visibility moving forward. When we attempt to make this validity change we get an error that Deletion not possible (usage is in table PRPS).

We understand that you cannot delete a cost center with transactions against it, but that isn't what we're trying to do. We're trying to restrict it from visibility and validity moving forward. Additionally the statistical projects referencing the cost center in that error are all closed as well.

Is there no way in S/4HANA Cloud to restrict posting visibility/validity in a cost center with closed project elements?

Thanks for your comment. I did review both of those notes and comments prior to posting and while similar I'm not trying to delete the cost center as mentioned in the question and note above, we just want to make the cost center not visible to posters.

In standard SAP, you can block a object but it's not feasible to hide. But yes in F4 help of cost centre user can make their own variant to see the cost centres which he would like to see. But from backend to hide or invisible not feasible.

You can raise a incident with SAP. Hope they might give some resolution.
