Cloud ALM documents uploading

The client and project using the SAP Cloud ALM Documents for its BDC and KDS should be uploaded and used. I have checked, and the only available option is for SAP BTP DMS. However, BTP DMS is a separate subscription process, and the client is not interested in the paid BTP subscription. Kindly, is there any alternative solution available to upload the documents?

Thank you for your question.

Currently, SAP Cloud ALM does not have its own internal file repository. The documents rely on integration with SAP BTP Document Management Service, which you have to subscribe separately to.

If you do not want to subscribe, you have two alternatives:

• First is to use external document links for example SharePoint and link them in Cloud ALM deliverables.
• Second is to use Cloud ALM public APIs to store your document metadata with external URLs.

If your tenant is on the latest 2025 release, check if embedded attachment upload is available under the documents tab. This offers a pilot feature that allows you to upload small files without BTP DMS.
