I would like to gain a clear understanding of how CTS (Change and Transport System) dependencies are established.
In what cases do CTS dependencies occur?
-> As one case example, we recently made modifications to two different GL accounts (let’s refer to them as GL Account 1 and GL Account 2).
1.1) The changes made to both GL accounts were identical (only internal details of the GL account were modified).
1.2) Each modification was included in separate CTS transports — GL Account 1 was included in Transport 1, and GL Account 2 in Transport 2.
1.3) We observed that Transport 1 has a lock token and cannot be ignored, whereas Transport 2 has no lock token and can be released independently.
Although these changes were processed in separate CTS requests and have no shared components (e.g., they are not assigned to the same financial statement version or any common structure), they still appear to be treated as dependent.
We would like to understand: Why are these two CTS transports not treated independently? What triggers such dependencies, and how are they technically formed?
To summarize: We would like detailed insight into the scenarios that may cause dependencies between CTS transports, especially in the context of GL account changes.
Since we believe each CTS request should be managed independently, we are also inquiring whether it is possible to remove or avoid such dependencies, to ensure isolated transport of individual changes.
Currently, due to these unexpected CTS dependencies, even test CTS requests are being transported together.
This is having a significant impact on our internal audit process on the customer side.
We appreciate your guidance and expertise on this matter.
Best regards,
Min Sun
