Hello,
I'm having the following situation:
- the raw materials were all imported into system without "do not cost" indicator. I have done some tests with the "do not cost" indicator and everything worked fine in CK11N. The MM consultant made a LSMW and changed for all the raw material the "do not cost" indicator=checked.
Now, I'm having 2 problems:
1. for some materials the price picked up in calculation is 0, although they have a variable price. (the valuation variant has strategy 7 - price according to price control from material master, and the price control is V). When I try to un-check the "don not cost" indicator, the system picks up a price in CK11N. Also, I have tried creating a new material with reference to the original one, included it in BOM. At CK11N, the new material is working fine (it has the check box "don not cost").
2. I also have several materials for which the system pick up a price, but in the explosion they are shown as they had a standard cost estimate, with the appropriate symbol. For these materials the system seems to ignore the "don not cost indicator"
Does somebody have an idea of what can I do? The problem 1 is, obvious, more important.
Thanks,
Lavinia Zara
Hi,
Do Not Cost
Controls whether a cost estimate or a procurement alternative can be created for a material.
Use
If you select this indicator, you cannot create any of the following for this material:
Material cost estimate (with or without quantity structure) Sales order cost estimate Procurement alternative
The material is excluded from selection and BOM explosion, so that no cost component split will be created by the costing process. If the material is included in another cost estimate as a component to be valuated, the valuation price is determined through the valuation variant if no cost estimate with the same key exists for the material.
Then this material cannot be costed, i.e. you cannot create a cost estimate for this material. If you try to start CK11N for this material you will receive an error message. In CK40N this material will be ignored in the selection and explosion step.
If this material is a BoM component with 'costing relevancy' = 'X' then it will not be costed, but only valuated with a price.
The easiest way without effects on logistics is to set the 'Do Not Cost' indicator in material master's costing view.
Then this material will be included in cost estimates and directly valuated with the price according to the valuation variant.
Only account assignment and price must be maintained correctly for this material.
If you do not want to see it at all in the cost estimates (and in order costing) then you have to reset the 'Costing relevancy' indicator of the corresponding BoM component.

Waman

Hi,
Tthank you.
Maybe I wasn't very clear, but I'm not trying to run CK11N for the material, I 'm running CK11N for a finished good. I need this material to be included in the cost estimate and valuated according to the valuation variant. That's the reason why I set the "do not cost" indicator.
The problem is that after this change, the system shows the raw materials with "automatic cost estimate" symbol instead of "raw material" symbol (problem no. 2) and a few materials are valuated with 0. They have a moving average price, the price control is "V" and qty* moving average price should be around 0,15.

Lavinia
Lavania,
Sorry if i am wrong, you are saying that the Raw material has to be included in COsting run. At the same time you are saying that you have kept that as "DO NOT COST"
If you set this indicator in Material master - Costing 1 view, then that materila will not get costed as stated.
If you have the Moving Avg price, just check whether you have any Purchase Info records maintained in ME12/ME13.
If not, just check the BOM, whether the materilals have been ticked "Costing relevancy'
Also, in Valuation Variant, the cost sheet has been assigned.
Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for suggestions. My answers are below.
"If you set this indicator in Material master - Costing 1 view, then that materila will not get costed as stated." - It's true, I don't need the material to be costed, I need it to be valuated with moving average price. But the system doesn't do it.
"If you have the Moving Avg price, just check whether you have any Purchase Info records maintained in ME12/ME13" - I have maintained Purchase info records, bot in other plant. For this plant, the material has procurement type=F and special procurement=40.
"If not, just check the BOM, whether the materilals have been ticked "Costing relevancy'" - In BOM, Costing relevancy is X.
"Also, in Valuation Variant, the cost sheet has been assigned." - It has been assigned.
Also, if I remove the " do not cost" indicator, in CK11N the material is valuated. This could not be a permanent solution, because I need the standard cost calculation to work with moving average price for raw materials.
Lavinia
Actually, when you run CK11N with FG which is having the Raw material as a part of BOM with DO NOT COST, then probably you see the warning message but not error.
That will be shown the costing values i think
But when run that Raw material as alone, then System won't allow you. It will through you an error.
Thanks
Hi,
In CK11N for a FG, which is having a material with "do not cost" indicator, I do not have any warning messages.
You also need to know that for some materials, everything is working fine, the materials are valuated with the right price and the symbol shown in the explosion is for raw material.
As for running CK11N for the raw material alone, it should never happen, it is not a business requirement. And it is true, the system gives an error message in this situation.
Anyway, I have tried to run CK11N for the same FG, with the same material, but for the next month, not with current date, as before, and that material looks fine: right value and the symbol is for raw material.
The conclusion: regarding the symbol, it appears that the change is taking place only from the next month (if I have a standard cost for the current month). Regarding the price, I don't have an explanation, but I made it work for this month removing "do not cost indicator".
Thanks again,
Lavinia
