Dear SD professionals,
in transaction OVX3n we have assigned our 2 company codes to 2 sales organizations.
Lets say:
XX company code to XX sales organization
YY company code to YY sales organization
When we maintain a customer in XD01 it is possible to create a customer with company code XX and sales organization YY. There is no warning or error.
2 Questions:
1. Is there a SAP standard possibility to check whether the given sales organization is matching to the company code or not (along the assignment in OVX3n) and display an error?
2. Why is this not checked as a default functionality? Are there some scenarios where it should be possible?
Thank you!
Greetings
Enrico

Validation is there such that you cannot assign multiple company codes to one sales organization.

Hello Enrico,
When a Customer Master Data for a Company Code is created, it is saved in Table KNB1 and when a Customer Master Data is created for a Sales Area, it is saved in Table KNVV.
Further I believe you know it is not mandatory to create all three Basic, Company Code and Sales Area Data for all the Customers. For Some Customers you many only need Basic + Sales Area Data as no posting will be made. That is why the flexibility is given.
Also think of Intercompany Sales Process where creation of Ship to Party under goods dispatching Plant (Company Code) is not needed.
When you create Sales Documents for a Customer system will generate necessary error if the Customer is not created under necessary Company Code or Sales Area.
Thanks,
