Changing Cost Center Standard Hierarchy after records entered

Hello

We need to create a new Cost center Hierarchy (i.e. new cost center groups and cost centers). Which of the below is the best way to do it:

1) Create new hierarchy and create the cost center groups/ cost centers and then change this to default/standard hierarchy? or

2) Under the current standard hierarchy, i create new cost center groups/ cost centers and disable all the cost centers. In this case, the old one will still keep on appearing

I see that option 1 is more feasible, but what are the risks/issues related to this. Thanks.

Hi

You have to use the current standard hierarchy assigned in OKKP and assign the cost centers to the same. Ultimately it is the cost centers which are posted to and not the cost center groups. If you use the hierarchy levels or hierarchy itself for internal reporting, you can create an alternative hierarchy as well.

The below link explains the difference well
