Change of item category from standard to different item category once PO is created

Hi Team,

Once a Purchase Order (PO) is created with the item category set as Standard, it is currently possible to update it to a different item category, provided there is no history.

We would like to know if it is possible to restrict changes to the item category in this scenario, or if a custom enhancement would be required.

Hello, 

If you are using transaction ME22N, you can change the field selection settings as explained in this document. However, if you are using the Manage Purchase Orders app, you can also implement BAdI MM_PUR_S4_PO_FLDCNTRL_SIMPLE to control the field selection according to your business requirement.
