Change Material no for serialized equipment along with stock update or goods movement

Hello All,

We want to change the material no for a serialized equipment which is wrongly tagged-

• Currently equipment status is ESTO, using special functions for serial no --> Manual transaction- We are able to change the status to AVLB using radio button 'From Stock'
• After which we can change the material no and serial no from Menu
• And then change the equipment status back to ESTO using 'To Stock' option
• But in this entire process no goods movement is taking place and thus stock is also not updating in MMBE

How can we achieve material no change along with goods movement, are missing we something or this is the standard behavior

OIS2 setting-

• No stock check
• Serial Procedure- MMSL (Maintain goods receipt and issue doc.)
• Ser Usg- 03 (obligatory)
• Eq Req- 02 (always w equip)

The alternative could be-

Consume the material using 201 (ESTO-->AVLB), and upload stock using 501 or any other mvt typ and tag equipment and serial no (which is already created) at the time of GRN (AVLB-->ESTO)

Reg your question, I followed the same 4 steps as mentioned above and was successful in getting the stock update in MMBE.

Please check if the new material that you are trying to assign to the equipment has serial no. profile updated in Material master? If not please do and test again.

I don't think what you have said happens in standard SAP. I have tried to do to the same (Go to Special functions for serial number --> Manual transaction --> To Stock --> system status changed to ESTO from AVLB --> Save) , but stock does not get updated. And yes, the serial number profile is updated in material master.

Is it possible that your system has any additional configuration enabled to allow stock update from IE02?
