Change in Equipment Category with Diff Serial Number

Dear All,

I want to change equipment category for certain types of equipment. But those are having different serial number profiles.

e. g. Eq. category A with number range 1000-1999 having the serial number profile as ZA and Eq. category B with number range 2000-2999 having the serial number profile as ZB. Equipment number and serial number are synchronized.

Now, Equipment number 1150 created under category A. I want to the category to B for this equipment. Both are having same Ref Category.

In IE02 I am able to change equipment category but it gives warning as "Please check for inconsistencies as a result of the change Message No. IS087".

KIndly advise if changing equipment category for such equipment having differnt serial number profile will have adver effect.
