Hi experts,
I have a question concerning Cloud Configuration. I understand that the main configuration activities are to be performed in the CBC. So far, so good. However, I recently discovered the app 'Implementation Activities' (authorized activities) in our Customizing tenant. Some of the configuration activities are the same as in the CBC. This confused me quite a lot since I thought that all activities should be performed in the CBC. Could you please explain if and how the Implementation Activities (authorized activities) app in the Customizing tenant should be used?
Thank you!
cheitmann : If you see - Configuration Environment in a 3-System Landscape its mentioned clearly that CBC is the main tool for configuration.
As per the documentation for Implementation Activities ->
With this app, you can find, display and – depending on the environment - execute implementation activities like configuration activities available in your system, as well as navigate to the corresponding change logs. Additionally, you can filter based on your business needs with additional filter options like when an activity was last changed or by whom. You use this app in an S/4HANA Cloud 3-system landscape to make current settings in the test and production tenants.
There are some configurations which one need to do locally in the system and without involving the CBC layer as they are supposed to maintained manually in individual systems. Think of those as these configs which cannot be transported across the system and needs to be done individually (the number or such activities are less) which is where the app - Implementation Activities are used for. Otherwise the CBC - configuration activities should be used.
Find more information here (under SAP Central Business Configuration drop down) - - https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/c45442a279434254b41a9bafa0af06d4/799575c0b6894a15a4f88743...
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Saumi

In general the Implementation Activity app is used to maintain settings in Test and Production that cannot be transported and need to be configured independently in each system. These settings cannot be maintained via CBC. See the blog below:

Hi Carina,
You are still expected to configure the system from CBC and move the configuration to the higher systems via transports. The implementation Activities app is meant for you to have the option to display and compare configuration between environments, to make redo in P configuration items.
