Capex and Customer Project Configuration

Hi All, 

I know the business process of capex & customer project but do not know how to configure in SAP system . How can I differentiate these two types of project through configuration in SAP system .

There is no real difference on the Project Management Side.  The project is the cost collector in both scenarios.  For a customer project there is a sales order that is account assigned to a WBS, and the project usually settles to a Profitability Segment (PSG).  A Capex project will settle to an AuC.

Hi Kent , Thanks for your reply . How can I configure the system to settle the cost to AUC for Capex project ? Similarly how can I configure the system so that when one create a project , anyone one can identify that this is capex project , this is customer project & this is expense project ?

Project behavior is controlled through the Project Profile in configuration. The AuC is automatically created from the project through the Investment Profile. Search in configuration for Investment Profile and add it to a Project Profile. Settlement is controlled through the Settlement Profile which is also assigned to the Project Profile. Create Project Profiles for your specific use cases.

You just need to do the standard PS configuration. When you create a project you will select the Billing Element on the WBS so it can be assigned to a Sales Order Item.
