Can we change existing SAP standard India region codes as per GST state codes?

Hi , We are implementing rollout for our Europian client in India. They are asking us to change the SAP India region codes to match with GST state codes. Will be there any consequences if we change the standard state region codes?

Hello Ekambaram,

We had to face the same thing at the time of GST Implementation, Client wants to change the region as per the GST State code. We have created Z Table in SM30 and updated fields as System region and GST State Code. When the system will try to post a document it will check that Z table and fetch the GST code accordingly.

We have taken the help of the ABAP team to create a Z table and write the logic in the Standard program to fetch the State code as per Standard Region.
