Hello raghu20,
You cannot enter class item type 300 into a BOM.
You may achieve a similar result using child configurable materials (with class type 300) set to phantoms (special procurement type 50). Inside the phantom BOM you would have all of your components and you use selection conditions to select the correct one based on characteristic value assignment.

raghu20,
Here is the path for O1CL
SPRO--> Cross application Components --> Classification system--> Classes--> Maintain Object types and class types

raghu20,
I only know this way to check configuration , you better ask for new role assignment or can request another user who have access to show it to you.
But any way, your primary question is already answered , hope you got what you were looking for. You can close the thread if no further questions
Thanks

pasting below from same thread.
Class 300 and 200 are both defined for the materials.class 300 is mainly used for a variant material used for variant configurartion. We can also classify materials under class 200 which do not have to be configurable materials. But allows to use the defined characteristics and restrict the usage for a specific purpose..
