I guess you got the answer to your original question, this configuration will not help much. If you don't have class 200 in your system and If its a training system i am sure some buddy may have deleted it.

Please find below snap shot too.

Hello raghu20,

You cannot enter class item type 300 into a BOM.

You may achieve a similar result using child configurable materials (with class type 300) set to phantoms (special procurement type 50). Inside the phantom BOM you would have all of your components and you use selection conditions to select the correct one based on characteristic value assignment.

Thanks , so you mean material with class 300 as header and then in BOM instead of class , i can put another material with class 300?

raghu20,

I only know this way to check configuration , you better ask for new role assignment or can request another user who have access to show it to you.

But any way, your primary question is already answered , hope you got what you were looking for. You can close the thread if no further questions

one more , you can use transaction O1CL to see technical details of class type.

I differ to expert indie7 , my understanding is if the class have class node check mark it could be use in BOM. But you better try it out and share results with us.

raghu20,

if you may have searched you could find many threads in forum on same.

https://answers.sap.com/questions/10920663/difference-between-class-200-and-300.html

pasting below from same thread.

Class 300 and 200 are both defined for the materials.class 300 is mainly used for a variant material used for variant configurartion. We can also classify materials under class 200 which do not have to be configurable materials. But allows to use the defined characteristics and restrict the usage for a specific purpose..

Please also check below threads
