Can a released PO be placed back on hold programmatically?

Background.

We do not use nor plan to use standard SAP PO workflow. Instead, a custom system utilizing Z tables, classes and email functionality was developed many years ago.

Code within enhancement MM06E005 (ZXM06U43), forces users to HOLD POs until the PO has been approved via the custom system. Once the PO WF has been approved, BAPI_PO_CHANGE is called to release the PO.

Requirement.

If certain fields are modified after the PO has been released, users want the PO to go back on HOLD. Can this be accomplished via BAPI_PO_CHANGE?

I find it difficult to believe that placing an ‘X’ in EKKO-MEMORY (POHEADER-MEMORY) is all that it takes.

Thanks

Leo
