Calculated Inspection Characteristics using BAPI_INSPOPER_RECORDRESULTS

Hi,

I'm using the FM BAPI_INSPOPER_RECORDRESULTS to save inspection characteristics (on SINGLE_RESULTS level) and it's working just fine.
The problem ist that we have a calculated characteristic depending on the other entered characteristics.
The calculation is working fine when I enter the values using QE51N transaction (values calculated, and characteristic closed), but it's not working using the FM BAPI_INSPOPER_RECORDRESULTS. The calculated characteristic is not calculated and not closed.
I've tried the solution described in the SAP Note 3088890 by calling the BAPI twice with a commit between the two calls but it's still not working.
Do you have any idea how to trigger the re-calculation ?

Make sure there's no OSS notes you need to apply by searching in support.sap.com. Try to debug line by line within the BAPI. Somewhere it could be clearing due to no reason whatsoever. I've noticed this while working with a lot of BAPIs.  Also check the BAdIs, sometimes there's logic which clears the depending on some predefined condition in the BAdI.

How is the system reacting when you process these inspections on screen instead of via the BAPI? Please note that when doing this first check if following parameter ID's are not active on your user: QAE, QAN, QAS, QBE. These could/would close inspection results on enter and saving of the sample. Any action performed by you as a user should also be done when processing the BAPI. If the BAPI is only populating the values of the given test it does not automatically do something with the calculated characteristic on another test.

thank you for the details provided.

If you have the input characteristics closed for the formula, you need to run the BAPI for the calculated characteristics separately. This part you have identified properly.

I have the feeling you try to close the calculated characteristic also on SINGLE_RESULTS level, however, it should be triggered on characteristic level, that is table CHAR_RESULTS of the BAPI.

Please re-test with help of the guidance above.
