Bottom Up Scheduling in S/4 Hana cloud Public Edition

Do we have this functionality i.e., from Raw material delivered date Planned order start date should be proposed.

Scenario :-  The scheduled delivery date for the customer's FG is set for February 18, 2024. However, when we ran the MRP, it generated a planned order start date of February 16, 2024. Unfortunately, the required raw materials expected to arrival is on February 19, 2024. Therefore, in order to account for the availability of the raw materials, the MRP run should propose a planned order start date of either February 19th or 20th, 2024.

Is this doable in S/4 Hana cloud Public edition?

Hello Patrick, I too had similar issue with my Previous Projects. But unfortunately the answer is No. MRP system does not perform any availability check rather it performs the net requirement calculation.

MRP cannot be run forwards, whereas scheduling direction can be forwards. MRP runs in a top-down manner and calculates the basic dates, then lead time scheduling determines the production dates and basic dates are adjusted to production dates.

If Date Calculated for any Elements which goes behind current MRP Run Date, System will propose to start it by Today, it will also generate the Exception Messages, so we have to play with this Part around.

Also I have read in another Q&A regarding the usage of APO for this Problem by User:DB49,

"There is a functionality in APO called 'bottom up' scheduling.  In this functionality, after MRP heuristic is run, the resultant planned orders can then be re-scheduled via an additional heuristic; according to pegging relationships; from the lowest level of the BOM and then iteratively up the BOM, such that the highest level 'should' be feasible. The dates of the FGs planned orders, then, should be realistic.  ECC does not support this type of order scheduling.  See APO Heuristic SAP_PP_009"
