Billing document API, Service name: BillingDocument - unable to create BDs for BDRs (Prof Services)

Hi all,

We are trying to create billing documents from ODATA API: API_BillingDocument. We created the BDRs (Prof. services - Public cloud).

When we try to create billing documents we are getting an error "Billing of BDR 1000085852 not supported because its SD doc. category is PBRQ."

But the API page, Billing Document | SAP Help Portal mentions that creation of billing doc is possible with BDRs.

I quote from the above page - "The service enables you to do the following:

• Create one or more billing documents with reference to one or more billable SD documents in your system

  Use this operation to create billing documents based on billable data that's already in your system (such as sales orders, outbound deliveries, and billing document requests)."

Please can someone guide us on this. Can we create billing docs using the above API from BDRs. Please note that we are not using external BDRs, billers are creating BDRs manually. We are able to see them in billing due list and can process billing documents from there.

Thank you for your question.

Have a look at Operations for Billing Document, REST APIs Documentation & 4E9-New Project Billing Configuration and Process for some details.

In summary, the error you mentioned when you call API_BILLINGDOCUMENT means that you are trying to bill a project billing request. However, this API only supports SD-based BDRs (sales/delivery), not those created by project billing in professional services.

For you to bill PBRQs, you ought to use the project billing APIs or the create billing documents-project billing app instead.
