Hello,
in BYD our org structure looks like this:
- company
- business residence
- different departments
In the near future, we will need to have two individuals in company management with equal hierarchical status.
What is the best approach to reflect this situation within the organizational structure?
The challenge is that the system only allows one person to be assigned as the organizational unit manager for both the company and business location.
How can this limitation be addressed effectively? It is not acceptable to assign either one person or the other at this level.
Thank you very much.
To ensure accurate reporting lines, an additional layer will be added to the hierarchy. This should work fine for us.
- company
- business residence
- company manager 1
- different departments
- company manager 2

Hi,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to have two managers per one org unit as the 'intercompany' approach is not supported in ByD so only one manager at the time can be assigned to an org unit.
Additionally, please find below the answers for more questions that may arise about the org unit assignments:
1. Is it possible to have multiple managers for the same org unit on a different timeline?
Yes, it is possible to define a manager for an org unit based on a defined timeline.
For example, we want to have Manager1 for the org unit A1 for September and Manager2 for the same org unit A1 for October.
This can be done as following:
2. Is it possible to have the same manager for multiple org unit?
Yes, it is possible to have the same manager assigned to different org unit for different companies.
For example, Employee1 is assigned as manager to org unit A1 from company A and org unit B1 from company B.
3. Is it possible to have an employee assigned to the same org unit as employee and as manager of the org unit?
Yes, it is possible to have the employee assigned as both manager and employee for the same org unit.
For example, Employee1 is assigned to org unit A1 as employee and as manager of the org unit A1.
Scenario:
We have two companies A & B.
Company A has org unit A1-A2-A3 assigned to it.
Company B has org unit B1-B2-B3 assigned to it.
