Benefit salary for insurance plan basic pay + additional payment

The help on Benefit Salary value says the following:

The estimated annual gross salary of an employee. This salary forms the basis for several calculations in Benefits Administration.

The system determines the benefit salary by reading the following employee master data records on a particular date, or within a particular period:

Basic Pay (0008)

Recurring Payments/Deductions (0014)

Additional Payments (0015)

The system reads the valid Basic Pay (infotype 0008) and Recurring Payments/Deductions (infotype 0014) on one of the following dates:

The calculation base date (default)

A date calculated from the cutoff day (override day for cost and credit variants only)

The system reads all Additional Payments (infotype 0015) that are made in the year preceding this date. The sum of all these amounts is then multiplied by the number of payments the employee receives during the year from the period modifier on their Basic Pay record (infotype 0008).

I have set up life insurance and want the coverage amount to be equal to the employee's salary plus the additional payment from infotype 0015. How do I set up the coverage rule to make this happen? If I add a salary factor on the coverage rule it seems to just take the salary from basic pay infotype.

I worked out the solution as follows:

1. For the employee insurance plans I assigned wage type BSAL as the calculation base in the Payroll > Payroll:USA > Benefits Integration > Enter wage types for plans config step. This wage type accumulates the wage types used to determine the base salary used in benefit insurance coverage rules

2. Update the wage type characteristics for wage type BSAL, (Personnel Management > Personnel Administration > Payroll Data > Basic Pay > Define Annual Salary > Wage type characteristics) setting the indirect evaluation module to ANSAL.

3. The indiect evaluation module ANSAL is where you assign the wage types that make up the accumulation wage type BSAL. Assign the wage types that make up the BSAL accumulation wage type in Personnel Management > Personnel Administration > Payroll Data > Basic Pay > Define Annual Salary > Relevant wage types for annual salary valuation.

4. In my case the wage types assigned to BSAL are the basic pay salary wage type and an additional payments (IT0015) wage type.

If I am not mistaken, in the Payroll>Payroll Canada>Benefits Integration node of the IMG (t-code = spro), there is a Table where you lind Payroll WTs to the Benefit Plans, and one of these WTs is the salary base. In our system, most Benefit Plans use ASAL or BSAL, but I have configured one to use an other WT, and that one gets created during Payroll Processing through a PCR.

You could write a PCR that adds the periodic salary from IT0014 to the periodic salary from IT0008 and multiplies the sum by the number of periods in the year (12, 24, 26 or 52). It will not be as easy to integrate the Special Payment from IT0015 since that one is not present every pay, but if your work out your formula on paper, you should be able to configure it (even if it requires more than one WT and PCR).
