AUC partial capitalization not completely using prior year acquisition first

Hi Colleagues,

We are partially capitalizing assets on ECC 6.0 and auditors have requested an explanation as to why SAP splits the capitalization into current and prior year "streams" with transaction types 331, 336 (asset shell) 338 and 339 (AUC asset). In particular, why the system does not use all of the prior year acquisition values first, before using the current year acquisitions, even if the prior year acquisitions are sufficient to cover the total capitalization value.

The image below shows the AUC acquisitions in 22/23 of 4,511,271.95.

In 23/24, further acquisitions of 2,313,975.22 was settled to the AUC asset.

When a partial capitalization of 3,453,275.80 was done in 23/24, the value was split into 1,170,770 current year acquisition and 2,282,505.80 prior year acquisition.

Instead of decreasing the prior year (22/23) acquisition value of 4,511,271.95 down to 1,057,996.15.

From what I can determine, SAP used the total acquisitions for current and prior year: 6,825,247.17 and calculated the % of prior and current acquisitions to the acquisition total. And then applied this percentage during the capitalization process. 66% to 34%.

Is it SAP standard or best business practice to calculate this split in such a manner? Or is this a configurable calculation. If so, which table or transaction code can be used to view, amend and/or substantiate this calculation?

The assistance would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Vaughan
