We have a production order for serial number relevant material of 12 pcs. After production we decide to only produce 11 pcs. The Order is "finally confirmed" with 11 pcs. Problem: We are not able to "close" the order . The error messages says "Number of serial numbers (12) exeeds order quantity (11)". Now I delete the not produced serial number from the order (Menu -> Header -> Serial Numbers). To do that, I need to change the MES settings for check of serial numbers in the customizing from Error to Warning). Now, the serial number can be deleted from the order, but when I save the order, a new SN is created automatically. I guess this is because of the setting for serial number creation on release of the order.
=> How can I make SAP to NOT CREATE A NEW SERIAL NUMBER, when the order was already released.
