Am I allowed to change SAP delivered calculation views?

Hi,

We are using SAP Integrated Business Planning in S/4HANA ONPREMISE 1909 for Commercial Project Management. We use Embedded BW, without a separate BW system. Everything works fine so far.
Now the customer has added custom ZZ-fields to tables PROJ and PRPS (resp. Project and WBS element).
For Project and WBS element virtual infoobjects /ERP/PROJECT and /ERP/WBSELMT are used which are based on standard SAP calculation views FCO_C_PROJECT and FCO_C_WBS_ELEMENT (see infoobject definition in transaction RSD1 tab 'Master Data/Texts', block 'Master Data Read Access').

My question:

  • Can I just add the ZZ-field to the respective SAP standard calculation views?
    or
  • Do I need to copy the SAP standard calculation view to a custom calculation view and add the ZZ-fields in the custom calculation view?

What is the recommended best practice?

  • The first option is the easiest one.
  • In the latter option I additionally have to change the reference to the calculation view in the /ERP/ infoobject from the SAP standard calculation view to the custom calculation view.

When changing the SAP standard calculation view in Hana Studio (Eclipse) I got the warning message:
'Editing objects under package with different source system is not recommended since they may be overwritten by next import'

I searched for some time on the internet and only found 2 examples of the second option (/ERP/MATERIAL).

Awaiting your response.

Kind regards,
Bart.
