Question: We are currently scrapping assets in SAP by transferring them to a designated scrap location using Movement Type 551 (Scrap Issue) via MB1A / MIGO.
Are there other movement types that can be used for asset scrapping in Inventory Management?
Additionally, should we explicitly list all possible movement types in our documentation, or would it be best to leave it open-ended for flexibility?
Would appreciate insights on best practices and any alternative movement types that might be relevant in specific scenarios.
thanks in advance!!

551 movement type is the right approach.

Sachin --551 is a standard movement to scrap any material out of SAP (Does not matter if it is an asset or normal material)--Now if there is a specific need to use a different movement type or different business need --you have few options
1. If the Business to track Asset scrapping against different movement type --you can copy 551 and create 951 and use that to follow the same process- but if there is no such need you can keep using 551
2. If the business wants to use WBS element (WBS dedicated to scraping) to scrap then you can use 221
3. if business want to use internal order then movement type is 261 or Cost center then 201 =
Again points 1, 2, and 3 are business-specific needs --from a best practice point of view, 551 is movement that should be used for scrapping.
