Allocation without Cost Centers (not KEU5 or KEU5 w/o CC)

Hello,

Could you please suggest a standard way to allocate costs on the cost elements (GL accounts) where a profitability segment is used, but not a Cost Center.

KEU5 without Cost Center did not work for me (errors. It should not be empty).
Solution, where we assign a dummy cost center in OKB9 and run KEU5 - dies not fit either, because in this case profitability segment cannot be completed. Cost Center should be empty and costs - allocated according to the volumes - to the customers.

Could you please suggest how to adjust KEU5 to avoide cost centers or offer any other standard solutions?

Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Olga

Hi, Olga!

You may refer to below question that was asked 7 years ago but possibly referring to the same issue as yours.

https://answers.sap.com/questions/7478764/required-fields-in-copa-assessment.html

In the configuration of your characteristics group, you may select "field ready for input" for cost center so that it won't require your make Cost Center as a Receiver. But be reminded that KEU5, the Cost Center is a required Sender.

Thanks!

Hello Dryan,

Thank you for your answer! My main problem is that the initial documents (senders) do NOT have Cost Center...

Kind regards,

Olga

Hi, Olga!

Got it. You may consider trying the one mentioned/recommended by Paulo above (i.e. T-Code KE28). If your allocation is from Profitability Segment to another Profitability Segment(s). Consider as well on which environment you're running. Because if you're on S/4HANA, you may now use Top Down Distribution on Account-based CO-PA. If you're on ECC 6.0, you can only run Top Down Distribution on Cost-based CO-PA.

Thanks!

Hi Olga,

In the assessment to COPA you always have either Cost Center or Business Process as a Sender object.

The simple question is on which objects you have the cost that needs to be allocated to COPA?

If your cost is already in COPA, you have a tool of top-down distribution.

Если хотите, то пишите по-русски или задайте свой вопрос на сапфоруме.

Thank you,

Paulo

paulo.vitoriano, thank you for the answer!

Hi Olga,

The COPA account assignment has the highest priority as far as I remember, therefore the Cost Center is likely having statistical posting when you specify both. You cannot allocate to COPA something that is already in COPA. For COPA to COPA allocations the only tool is top-down distribution and it works for actuals too.

На всякий случай, - код транзакции КЕ28 🙂

Paulo
