Hi Aby

You can link the web based vendor catalogs with SAP. Therefore within a maintenance order, you can search/browse the required parts from their web site and select them and put them in a shopping cart and trigger the purchase requsition for the parts in the cart.

You can find more information here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/5d/0eba5fa0084247acbb0c04cede18e8/frameset.htm

Hello

Think about using Visual Enterprise as an Illustrated Parts Catalogue.

The Basis for this is a 3D or 2D modell which is able to contain the information needed in Tags.

This VIisual Enterprise functionality is included in quite some business processes like:

  • PLM
  • Enterprise Asset Management
  • Quality Management

as the scenario which you describe is not clear I am not able to give you further hints

Information about Visual ENterprise you find here

General: http://help.sap.com/ve

EAM Integration: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_06/helpdata/en/ab/c573d605d1471b8ce5d1db7e4d1964/frameset.htm

in EAM you can select Spare Parts in the 3D Model

Thank you Stephan for the inputs.. In our case, the publication or viewing of the catalog will be done through external software and not in SAP..

We only have to provide the data to be published which incudes Material, BOMs. Interchaneability details and so on..

Though I did not work in this area proper, this looks a requirement of Coding your Sales parts into catalog B (parts), along with their possible damages (C) and the Causes (5) and remedies (2, A)

You may need to make use of Service notification (IW51). So configure the same according to your requirement.

The customer will be notifying you or you'll be creating this notification as per customer's need giving the service required details through the catalog-codes tas (Item, Causes, Task, Activity)

and process the same (notification) and close.

Centre-point is to convert your BOM information into Codes of catalog B and then if you have any trouble-shooting chart  convert this into Damage, Cause, Task, Activity coding.

Hi Jogeswara,

Thanks for an immediate reply. I will explain the scenario a bit more..

The requirement is for an automotive client. They have an Illustrated Parts Catalog , where the vehicles parts are grouped into different categories - like Engine, Cooling systems, Brakes, etc..

I think this is a process used by major auto-makers.. I could see these kind of Catalogs for Yamaha and Ford in internet..

http://www.starmotorcycles.com/partviewer/default.aspx?ls=star#/Yamaha/FZ1_-_FZS10D_-_2013/AIR_INDUC...)

http://www.fordparts.com/Default.aspx

The Catalog will be published using external software, but we have to prodvide the necessary data from SAP like BOM, part number, Interchangeability details like that...

I am looking for any standard practice in SAP, for this kind of business scenario for After Sales Market.

We are not looking for repair and maintenace of parts, beacuse most of the parts will only be exchanged, and not repaired.

Aby

Hi Aby,

We are not looking for repair and maintenace of parts, beacuse most of the parts will only be exchanged, and not repaired.

In this case my reply is not valid, perhaps Catalog-codes subject is not valid.

I have seen the parts list. It is a huge database.

If this needs to be addressed through Maintenance orders, all these parts are to be converted to multi-level Material BOMs.

Perhaps hierarchical structure of vehicle parts may also need to be maintained with these BOMs.

Whether some other forum has got good solutions for this situation?

Over to other members for opinions..
