Adding Lean Service component in the maintenance task list

Hello all,

I have configured lean services in the system, I can add it in a maintenance order for an operation. However, when I want to add it in the maintenance task list I cannot see the Item categories which were configured.

Can someone explain what could be the reason for this or am I missing something here?

Screenshots for reference:

1. Procurement mode is set to "Enhanced procurement mode" for my plant-order type combination.

2. PM/CS -> Maintenance and Service Processing -> Subcontracting for MRO process -> Define Item Categories

3. Configured Item categories not appearing in the "Services" Tab for Maintenance Tasklist:

4. But they are available in maintenance order operation

Is there something else I have to configure to get them in maintenance tasklist?

Thanks.

Hello @roshan89

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the use of Lean Services in maintenance orders and maintenance task lists within SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition. The screenshots you shared were useful

This behaviour is intentional within the system.

  • In maintenance orders, you can assign Lean Services using specific item categories such as Service with SES, Service without SES, or Enhanced Limit
  • In maintenance task lists, only materials can be included in the plan, since categories for service procurement items are not supported. Therefore, your configured service item categories will not appear in the task lists.

Reason:
Task lists serve as reusable templates mainly for technical operations and material components. Items like Lean Services for service procurement need to be added later at the order level, where comprehensive logistics and procurement integration takes place.

Recommended Approach:

  • Utilise task lists to organise technical operations and materials.
  • When creating a maintenance order, add the required Lean Service items directly at the order operation stage.

This process is the standard and intended method within SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition.

For your reference, you may consult the official SAP Help documentation on Maintenance Orders in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and the learning video on Procuring Lean Services.

Please inform me if you require further assistance.

With kind regards
