Welcome to the Two-Tier ERP innovation highlights for 2302 release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition. With this release you get some interesting scenario innovations in master data, finance, manufacturing, enterprise portfolio and project management and analytics topics. Let's start.

Master Data Replication with MDI

Master data replication between headquarter and subsidiary is the most critical aspect for smooth functioning of Two-Tier ERP scenarios. Now you can use SAP MDI service, which is a multi-tenant cloud service on SAP BTP, providing a consistent view of master data across a hybrid landscape. SAP MDI service is based on SAP One Domain Model where objects can be mapped to a central domain for applications speaking different languages & can align configuration and transactional data. MDI uses Hub & Spoke model to enable standardization in master data integration and supports extensibility with customer specific fields. Thus, it sets the foundation for integration and extension scenarios.

SAP Group Reporting Data Collection Forms for ESG

In our existing Two-Tier ERP use case in finance with SAP Group Reporting Data Collection on SAP BTP, now you also get a package with sample data entry forms for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics based on the requirements of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and World Economic Forums Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics(SCM) standards. This allows quick and easy ESG data collection from subsidiaries across the group. You can also efficiently build or extend your own ESG forms using the sample forms as reference.

Sample forms are available for -

  • Greenhouse gas emissions

  • Energy consumption

  • Water consumption and withdrawal

  • Personnel - diversity and inclusion,

  • Discrimination cases

  • Anti-corruption training

  • R&D projects description.

Material Requirement Planning Visibility

Next highlight is MRP (material requirement planning) visibility scenario in Two-Tier ERP. Consider a Two-Tier ERP business use case where one tier is a production unit for the other and needs visibility on product demand and planning data to avoid delay in production and in delivery to customers. SAPs Business Application Studio on SAP BTP provides a development environment for creating API based SAP Fiori app to display the material requirement planning data between the headquarter and subsidiary systems in Two-Tier ERP landscape. It supports customers with increased planning accuracy, reduced production delays and supports on-time delivery to customers.

Project Based Engineer-to-Order

Project based engineer-to-order with two-tier integration will help manufacturing companies manage various production activities across the globe. It maximizes operational efficiency and transparency during various stages of production.

The production is carried out with purchase order and sales order process for enterprise projects. A purchase order can be created in headquarters (SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition ) which triggers enterprise project in the subsidiary which can be on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition via SAP Cloud Integration.

The purchase order fields in the outbound IDOC created from the headquarters are used to map and call the API to create an enterprise project and sales order (account assigned to project) in the subsidiary. Then the invoicing between the subsidiary and the headquarters is executed via an iFlow.

In reverse use case, the headquarters is on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition purchase order in headquarters can be triggered to create sales order in subsidiary via an inbound IDOC, which then triggers the creation of project in project system via assemble to order processing. The material used for creating the sales order is linked to a standard project and network to trigger creation of an operating project which is executed in the subsidiary. The invoicing back to the headquarters from the subsidiary can be executed. For detailed blog, click here.
