On July 26, an exciting new feature delivery was released for SAP Central Business Configuration (referred to as CBC 2205 FD04 on SAP Help Portal). This blog post will provide you with a comprehensive overview of these new features, with insights into how they can help to streamline your day-to-day operations.
Streamlined Project Management Thanks to Project Deletion
As a program or project manager, you can now delete obsolete or erroneously created projects. This option simplifies project lists and offers a more uncluttered view of ongoing projects. However, deleting a project is only possible if the project has not been deployed to SAP S/4HANA Cloud yet. That is, as long as you haven’t confirmed the
Confirm Scope and Organizational Structure Phase is Completed milestone.
Enhanced Navigation from SAP Cloud ALM
For every task concerned with configuration, SAP Cloud ALM seamlessly guides you to SAP Central Business Configuration. Now, we’ve further improved the link between the two tools: The revised navigation allows you to jump directly to specific projects in SAP Central Business Configuration from SAP Cloud ALM, speeding up your project access.
More Flexibility in Activity Status Management
When you initiate change to enhance your scope, organizational structure or configuration settings, all activities used to be set back to the
Open status. Now you can decide for yourself if you want the statuses to change or not. The new default is that initiating change does not affect the status of any activity. Only the milestones are automatically set back. However, you can now choose yourself if you want the statuses of project activities and/or configuration activities to be set back to
Open.
This enhanced flexibility allows you to manage your projects more efficiently when initiating change. For example, if you need to make larger additions to your scope and organizational structure, it may make more sense to set back the statuses. However, if you just need to make a tiny adjustment, there would be no need for you to have all statuses be set back, as this would increase your efforts to set the activities to
Completed again.
Additional Scoping Capabilities
To see which scenarios are part of a bundle, you can simply choose the tile header of a bundle to open a list of all scenarios contained in it. For your convenience, you can now download this list at the press of a button.
Furthermore, we’ve replaced the
All Bundles and Scenarios filter with the new
Scenarios filter. With this filter, you can filter for scenarios which you can select, you’ve already selected, or which are part of an already selected bundle. For example, when you want to add new scenarios, this makes it easy for you to hide the scenarios which you’ve already selected or are part of a selected bundle and focus on the scenarios which are available for selection.
Enhanced Deployment Tracking
In a 3-system landscape, two more features are now available: The
Deployment Target Details give you detailed information about your assigned deployment target. For example, you can view the initial deployment status and the operation status. You can also check whether demo data is included in your evaluation project (note that demo data is mandatory for the starter system). What’s more, the
Deployment History is now available in SAP Central Business Configuration, which shows you more details about your previous deployments, such as
Staging ID,
Date and Time,
Deployment Type, and
Deployment and Activation Status. This gives you a better overview of your deployments.
Besides, for both the 3-system and 2-system landscape, we’ve redesigned the process of assigning deployment targets to provide you with an even better user experience. This process is now streamlined so that you can easily assign deployment targets with fewer clicks.
Quick Access to User Settings
Under
Settings, you can now quickly check your role and logon language at a glance. What’s more, a new theme is available. With the new
Morning Horizon theme, you change the design of the user interface and give it a fresh look in a second.
Better Overview in the Product-Specific Configuration Phase
Previously, there used to be various tiles in the Product-Specific Configuration phase on the
Activities tab, for example
Configure Sales or
Configure Procurement, which would all lead you to the
Configuration Activities tab to perform your configuration activities. We’ve simplified this and combined the tiles into one activity. Now, the tab is leaner so that you have a better overview of the activities. Plus, if you set it to
Completed, you can complete all mandatory configuration activities that haven’t been completed yet at once.
That wraps up the new features in this release. If you want to learn more about what’s new, make sure to check out the What’s New click-through tutorial available in SAP Central Business Configuration’s in-app help or on
