In this blog we will look at how to modify forms easily using the UI templates in SAP Business One. We will go through what their capabilities are, how to create them, how to assign them to users and finally, how to modify existing forms.
For various reasons SAP Business One users have the need to adjust or modify the appearance of a form, for example Marketing Documents or Business Partners. Using UI Configuration Templates makes this task fast and simple.
What can you do with UI Templates?
With the UI Templates you can:
Hide, disable, and move selected fields and tabs in forms.
Incorporate user defined fields seamlessly in an existing form.
Set a default UI template or assign multiple UI templates to each user.
Copy UI templates from one company to another by using the Quick Copy tool.
Creating a new UI Template
To create UI Templates in SAP Business One you need to do the following:
Go to Administration → Utilities → UI Configuration Template.
To add a new template, choose Data → Add.
On the Forms tab, select the forms for the new template.
Assigning Users
The template should be assigned to users by going to the Assigned Users tab. It is important to note that a user should be assigned only to one form type. For example, if you have several UI Templates that include a form for Sales Orders, then user Test should only be assigned to one of those forms.
Modifying Forms
An example of modifying a form:
Go to Administration → Utilities → UI Configuration Template.
On the left select your UI Template.
On the Forms tab, select your form and click on Edit Form UI.
Click and hold to drag the element to its new location.
Right click and select Save to save your changes.
See below example of a modified form using the UI Templates functionality. Here the element Document Date has been moved.
With recent enhancements to the UI Template functionality please make sure to try it out in SAP Business One version 10.0.
