In a Nutshell

Have you heard how the SAP Transformation Navigator has evolved over the last year? It has helped customers analyze their current implementation, and then provided them with company-specific guidance. It's helped assemble the best possible solution portfolio to realize business benefits from a future SAP S/4HANA-centric environment.

SAP Transformation Navigator – One Year Later

SAPPHIRE NOW 2018 marked the SAP Transformation Navigator’s one-year birthday. And, our customers and partners came out to celebrate: the SAP Transformation Navigator's topic station was the 2nd most visited booth of the whole conference, with over 1200 visitors. Experts hosted over 300 one-on-one concept and deep-dive sessions; and that’s in addition to the various other presentations and demonstrations.

Customer’s shared some their initial reactions on the tool with our SAP experts …
“With this tool, I can now go on vacation for a couple of weeks.”

“This is fantastic, I’ll look very smart in our company when we use this tool”

“BAM! - you just made my job very simple”

Returning customers were impressed with how many enhancements have been made to the tool in just one year. The time slider function allows customers to assess the best point in time for them to engage in a transformation. There are also now industry-specific templates for customers to begin their product map creation, instead of creating it from scratch. There have been numerous other usability improvements as well. In addition, the Transformation Navigator plays a strategic role in helping our customers become an intelligent enterprise. In this SAPPHIRE Best Run session, SAP Industries co-leads, Lori Mitchell-Keller and Peter Maier, shared their thoughts on how becoming an intelligent enterprise will help your organization generate value and open up business opportunities. They also highlighted how the Transformation Navigator can help organizations chart the path on their journey to becoming an intelligent enterprise. Watch the session replay to learn more:

Customer Tell Their Stories

Customer are already sharing the benefits they have gained from using the SAP Transformation Navigator today. Below are a few examples from three companies in three different industries – utilities, higher education, and consumer products.

The Snohomish County Public Utility District has been using the tool to help map their way forward and to collaborate on best practices with other utilities as well. They found the value feature of the tool helped facilitate conversations with the business on what is most important, so that the business could prioritize its goals.

The University of Mississippi shared how intuitive they found the tool. They also commented that the tool can be used iteratively, which can lead to insightful analyses.

Identifying value was a theme repeated by Dumi, a consumer product company, citing that drilling down into the value drivers reveals opportunities for improvements. This can help make the business case for new projects moving forward.

Enhancements

Look out for my upcoming blog posts, which will provide information about even more SAP Transformation Navigator enhancements, such as:

  • Usage: a new feature will use Customer Usage Data to automatically complete the information about which capabilities users utilize today. Thus, the data will pre-populate the capabilities in the tool so that users don’t have to select them manually;

  • Click to 'Trial & Demo': the tool will link to and integrate trial versions and demos of products & capabilities, so users can learn more about their functionality and try them out in a real system;

  • Business Capability Model: Updated modelling and descriptions will better identify business processes and support SAP products and solutions, so users can easily map their evolving business needs.

SAP TechEd
