The SAP Mobile Service and Asset Management team is pleased to announce the 3.0 release of SAP Service and Asset Manager for Windows.
Our Mobile Development Kit (MDK) for Windows team continues to deliver the components and capabilities needed to process standard metadata and build a native Windows user interface. This is the framework that powers SAP Service and Asset Manager, and this is the first native Windows application developed using the cross-platform MDK.
Please read on to learn more about our latest release.
This update is based on the 2405 feature set and metadata from the principal release and supports maintenance technician, field service technician and safety technician personas.
Please see 3525566 - Software Release Note – SAP Service and Asset Manager 3.0 for Windows for detailed information. Additional information is available in the SAP Help Portal.
Introduced in the 2305 release of SAP Service and Asset Manager, the Safety Technician persona ensures the safety of workers when working with machinery or equipment that could pose a risk of injury or accidents during maintenance. Integrated with SAP Work Clearance Management* (WCM) on SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, the persona focuses on the safety lockout-tagout (LOTO) process.
The persona has a custom user experience optimized to easily find operational items and certificates on the home page. The technician may access details about work approvals, permits, work orders, equipment, and functional locations.

The SAP Service and Asset Manager maintenance technician persona enables detailed end-to-end maintenance execution procedures on a mobile device, however, some customers want a simpler mobile application where technicians and floor supervisors may report and manage maintenance requests with access to asset data and related details
This release supports standard and professional categories for our maintenance and field service personas. The streamlined standard personas are licensed at ½ FUE, and professional personas at 1 FUE.

A recent addition to our SAP Mobile Service and Asset Management portfolio, SAP Dynamic Forms provides a platform for creating and managing digital forms built on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Templates can be designed with form fields and validation rules and then assigned to work orders and operations. As part of the service, the forms may be accessed in a web browser or directly from SAP Service and Asset Manager.
Form instances associated with work orders, operations, and suboperations will be download to the device and may be completed offline during work execution. Technicians may save drafts as they complete their work, submitting the final form and syncing after completion.
Completed forms are synced back to SAP BTP where post-processing can occur, such as mapping captured data to business objects and triggering follow up actions.

This integration allows the mobile client to download, modify, and upload Smartforms. These can be dynamic, multi-step forms used to capture safety data, inspections results, notes and much more. A solution from SAP Field Service Management, Smartforms are managed in the Smartforms and Feedback app.
Across the application, list pages now include the intuitive filter feedback bar, offering users a convenient way to manage filters. Positioned above the object list, this horizontal scroll area hosts interactive chips that display applied filters and available options.
Quick action buttons are strategically positioned at the top of detail pages. These context-aware buttons minimize unnecessary navigation and reduce the number of clicks required to perform essential tasks.
These buttons may be customized based on user preference. A settings icon appears next to each button set where buttons may be disabled if desired. Further, the buttons are customizable on the business level to accommodate diverse customer-specific use cases.
Deep linking enables you to navigate to a specific screen or functionality within the app via a URL or link, which can be very useful for user workflows. For instance, you can create a link that opens a particular work order or service order directly in the SAP Service and Asset Manager app.
We appreciate the early-adopter customers who have given us much feedback on the Windows client. I encourage everyone to learn more about How Customers and Partners Can Submit Improvement Requests. Windows requests can be tagged using the Windows category.
The Windows 2.0 application and metadata are available for customers and partners from the SAP Download Center. Navigate to SAP SERVICE AND ASSET MANAGER > MOB SERVICE ASSET MANAGER WIN > MOB SVC ASSET MANAGER WIN 3.0 > MOB SVC ASSET MANAGER WIN 3.0.
The client application is also available in the Microsoft Store and includes a demo mode for exploring.
