This blog provides you an overview of key highlights in the area of Sourcing & Procurement of our SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1705 release.

With our 1705 release, we again deliver massive innovation to help our customers to flourish in the digital economy. And Sourcing & Procurement is again one of the early adopters of new innovative technology. As the first LoB, Sourcing & Procurement now leverages predictive analytics within SAP S/4HANA Cloud. With this new capability, SAP S/4HANA Cloud will predict when a purchase contract is to be consumed by 100%.

Of course, our 1705 release entails many other innovations and enhancements to existing functionalities. The second shipment of the year includes updates for:

  • Operational Purchasing

  • Supplier Management

  • Collaborative Sourcing & Contract Management

  • Invoice & Payables Management

  • Inventory Management

  • Procurement Analytics

To familiarize yourself with the new innovations, watch this video:

The main highlight of 1705 is, as already mentioned above, predictive analytics of contract consumption. Based on historical data, SAP S/4HANA Cloud will predict when a purchase contract is likely to be consumed by 100%. This information will enable you to renegotiate quantity contracts in time. You can find the estimated consumption date in the “Quantity Contract Consumption app”.

As part of SAP Fiori 2.0, our new user experience, we deliver two new capabilities. With 1705, the SAP CoPilot becomes available across the entire SAP S/4HANA Cloud edition. The SAP CoPilot is a digital assistant for the enterprise that enables you to work more efficiently. On top of the generic functionality that is available across all LoBs, Procurement developed a Quick Create Activity UI. Using this UI, a purchaser can create a procurement related activity and assign them to colleagues. As the SAP CoPilot is business and user context sensitive, it will prefill some of the fields making you work more efficiently.

The second highlight as part of SAP Fiori 2.0 is the enablement of the notification area for purchase requisition approval on the Launchpad. Whenever you need to approve a purchase requisition, you will receive a notification in this area. Accordingly, you are always alerted and up to date with your action items.

In the area of operational procurement, we now provide the procurement of unplanned services (also known as value limit items). Creating a purchase order for service items, you can now declare a value limit. In case you cannot specify which and how much services you will need, this is a helpful feature.

Finally, 1705 also delivers increased extensibility. A lot of new Whitelisted APIs to extend SAP S/4HANA Cloud to other solutions have been released. In addition, field extensibility for purchase orders is enabled.
