SAP S/4HANA Cloud provides a test tool that can help customers automate their testing during various phases of the projects and also during Quarterly upgrade. This blog will help you understand what’s new in Test Automation Tool in 2008.

You can also check out the “early release webinar” for “SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 - SAP Activate for SAP S/4HANA Cloud”.

Let see the new features released in test automation tool

1.Manage Your Test Process
Change History:

Change history provides detailed information about the changes that has been made to a Standard Test Process. This information provides details on changes happened for each process step for example

  • a new action step could be added

  • existing action step has been removed

  • existing action step is moved to a different sequence

  • label changes

  • changes in technical property, hence suggestion to re-record the step if custom is created

  • any action step has been marked mandatory

  • changes in the process step names

  • changes in the value field

  • changes in the variables

  • application name changes

The standard automate details which appear in search option can be either US specific or DE else it would cross country “xx”. For some of the automate like J45 the search field was displaying the results for both US & DE even though the country version set in manage your solution was US. This has been corrected now.

Change history details can be referred when custom automates needs to be adapted after the upgrade. You can look into the changed details of the standard automate and then adapt your custom automate like removing/adding a field or re-recording few steps etc.
Copy Action allows more that 100 steps:

When a standard automate does not fit into business requirement then you may adapt standard automate or completely create a new automate from start. When you are creating a new process step you may choose to create via recording functionality.

There could be scenarios where many steps can be reused from different or same automate (scope ID). To reduce that effort of re-recording completely you can use the feature of copy actions.

You can choose to copy actions from those steps and then record the missing ones. Earlier this copy action used to restrict the number, this feature has been enhanced now to allow copy for more than 100 action steps.
Enhanced security on the test process names:

When creating a new test process or copy from an existing automate you would need to add name to the test process. If the names of the test process are starting with special characters like “= “or “-” there could be security issues.

When we download the report from manage your test process these characters can be used as a formula and with that anyone could export the data in different sever by using macro for example. Hence when list of test process is downloaded the test process name is prefix with single quotes, this way data is protected.

2.Test Your Process
Conditional Authentication:

Test automation tool works where SAP IDP is set up. If custom IDP is used then even if test tool set up is done the test plan do not execute. For such scenarios conditional authentication can be maintained. In the custom IDP set up for the test system the link can be taken from the custom IDP set up under application section – “S/4 Q system” – “Trust” –”conditional authentication section”. The details are provided in the help.sap.com.
