For Finance in SAP S/4HANA, we offer different certifications. Depending on your level of expertise as well as your main focus area, the following summary should help you to choose the right certification for your situation.

Are you a newcomer to SAP Financials?

For newcomers who are not yet experienced with SAP Financials, we are recommending the two following certifications - depending on your main area of expertise:

SAP Certified Application Associate –
Financial Accounting in SAP S/4HANA (C_TS4FI)

This certification focuses at the full knowledge of Financial Accounting in SAP S/4HANA. It addresses ‘new’ learners with a recommended experience of 3 years (minimum 1 year) in Financial Accounting on SAP. These ‘newcomers’ are recommended to attend the academy ‘Financial Accounting in SAP S/4HANA’ (TS4F01, TS4F02). This is an ‘associate’ level certification, and the questions will stay in the context of Financial Accounting.

SAP Certified Application Associate –
Management Accounting in SAP S/4HANA (C_TS4CO)
Thhttps://training.sap.com/certification/c_ts4cois certification focuses at the full knowledge of Management Accounting in SAP S/4HANA. It addresses ‘new’ learners with a recommended experience of 3 years (minimum 1 year) in Management Accounting on SAP. These ‘newcomers’ are recommended to attend the academy ‘Management Accounting in SAP S/4HANA’ (TS4F03, TS4F04). This is an ‘associate’ level certification, and the questions will stay in the context of Management Accounting.

Central Finance in SAP S/4HANA (C_S4FCF)
This certification focuses at the full knowledge of Central Finance in SAP S/4HANA. The learners are recommended to attend the below mentioned courses (classroom, ebook or eLearning) to be prepared for the exam.

Overview SAP S/4HANA for central finance (S4F60)

Business Processes in Treasury and Risk Management in SAP S/4HANA (S4F50)

You are already an expert in SAP Financials?

The following certification has been retired March 31st, 2025. No successor is available.

SAP Certified Application Professional - Financials in SAP S/4HANA
for SAP ERP Finance Experts (P_S4FIN)

This certification was basing on trainings that are related to SAP S/4HANA and on your on the job experience. These focus on the differences between SAP ERP Financials and Finance in SAP S/4HANA. It helped prove the readiness to run implementation projects of SAP S/4HANA Finance - new implementations or migration projects.

The underlying courses are still available:
- Accounting in SAP S/4HANA, 2 days (S4F01)
- Management Accounting in SAP S/4HANA, 3 days (S4F02) and
- Conversion of Accounting to SAP S/4HANA, 2 days (S4F03)
- Customizing and Conversion of Asset Accounting in SAP S/4HANA (S4F05)
You can attend these courses in a classroom or consume these courses in a digital format (eLearnings or course books) on SAP Learning Hub. For digital learning, please refer to the course codes S4F01e, S4F02e, and S4F03e.

Two questions reached me, therefore let me add some info on the process hot to take a certification.

How to take a certification that you chose?

Each certification has a description which clearly describes the expectations that you need to fulfill to pass the exam. The basis of a certification is usually a list of courses, as listed above and as described in our learning journeys.

The courses include theoretical knowledge and exercises. You have to understand and digest the theoretical part, but we also strongly recommend to do the exercises.

Alternative ways to learn the content:

Self-paced

If you want to learn self-paced, part-time (in parallel to your job) and on your own, you should consume our eLearning offerings.
For Finance, all certification related courses are available as an eLearning. An eLearning is the recording of the classroom training. Exercises are shown through recorded system demos.
- eLearnings + Liveaccess
  If you have a subscription to SAP Learning Hub (professional edition or solution edition for Finance), this would be your most natural way to get ready for the certification: Please logon to SAP Learning Hub and access our learning journeys for SAP S/4HANA Finance. Start the eLearnings from there and have a look at the course materials. (Your access to these materials is given with your SAP Learning Hub subscription.) If you want to do the exercises, you should in addition rent a Live Access system for each course (separate booking / price). Questions on the course content can be clarified through our Learning Room.
- eAcademy
  For Financial Accounting (TS4F2E) and Management Accounting (TS4F4E) we offer eAcademies. Booking an eAcademy will provide you with the eLearnings, course materials (same as included in a SAP Learning Hub subscription) and also with a training system that you can use remotely for a couple of months. Questions can be clarified through experts (details will be provided during and after the booking procedure). We do not offer an eAcademy for our professional certification.
- The certification has to be booked separately, through http://training.sap.com . A learner buys a contingent of up to 6 exams that can be used within one year. You can use these 6 items for several attemts on different certifications. The exams are taken online, as “certification in the cloud”. Details are given in the descriptions of the certifications.

Classroom

If you want to learn fulltime and in a classroom with other learners, then please check the local training offerings for our classroom academies and courses. You will find the relevant links to the SAP Training Shop (to book classroom trainings) included in our through our learning journeys on http://help.sap.com . Please check if the certification is included in the classroom academy. Otherwise you need to book it separately and take it as “certification in the cloud”. Please check the exact description of the local event.
- For Financial Accounting: academies TS4F01 and TS4F02
- For Management Accounting: academies TS4F03 and TS4F04
- For Upskilling Financial and Management Accounting to SAP S/4HANA: S4F01, S4F02, S4F03

If you are already familiar with some parts of the academies but need to add knowledge on other parts, then please consider to add just the missing parts by attending the single courses (as classroom or eLearning) and repeat your existing knowledge from courses that you already took in the past.

How can a person determine which release/version of the S/4 HANA certification is right for them; ie 1511 vs 1610 vs 1709 etc what would be considered the determining factor?

The recommendation is very clearly to always take the latest version. This brings your competency in best shape for today and the next years. The certification P_S4FIN_1511 is retired since last summer. I hope this helps.

There is no global price to the certification. For example in Germany, you can book access to the certification cloud for 12 months including up to 6 attempts - I believe to different certificates. Please check for your region in the SAP Training and Certification webshop.
