Introduction
In this blog, we will discuss about the new Reporting Item API of Group Reporting. We will also show how to create Hierarchy variables and restricted structure members for Group Reporting queries using Custom analytical queries and Services application. Additionally, we will demo on how to publish the Group Reporting based custom query in Multidimensional Analysis Grid.
Reporting Item API: API_CNSLDTNRLBSDGRPJRNLITM
This new API contains the Reporting Item as a field and displays it member values along with key figures and other fields. In the API without reporting item: API_CNSLDTNGRPJRNLITEM there were 3 hierarchy parameters. In this API, we have added two more parameters: P_ConsolidationRptgItemHier and P_ConsolidationRptgRuleID. Similar to the analytical applications, for e.g. Group Data Analysis with Reporting Rules, you need to provide the ConsolidationReportingItem hierarchy and ConsolidationReportingRuleID that are already defined in the Define Reporting Rules. Similarly, you need to provide it in the API and you can look at the sample URI:

Multidimensional Analysis Grid Using Group Reporting Data Source
You can now publish the Group Reporting Custom query in Multidimensional Analysis Grid. The pre-requisites are:
- Analytical Query of type V3 (CDS Analytical Projection Views)
- INA Service
The queries that are created in the new app: "Custom Analytical Queries and Services" are of type V3. You can watch a demo below on how to create the V3 query:
You will notice that in the above demo you can create Variables, provide fixed values for dimensions, choose dimensions and key figures as per your use case. Most of it was possible in the previous release also using the app.: Custom Analytical Queries (but of type V1 query).
You can also create a FS Item hierarchy variables as shown below:
The variables can also be used in a Restricted measure or Key figure. It is possible to create restricted structure member in the custom query. Please watch the below demo that illustrates the creation of Current Year VS Previous Year for Amount in Group Currency.
Now its time to create an INA service. Please make sure the custom query is published before creating an INA Service. In the app. "Custom Analytical Queries and Services" click the link "Manage InA Services " and follow the video below to create a service:
In the above example, you will see that the InA service is created out the custom query that we created in the above demo.
Please now load the app "Manage KPI and Reports" and select the tab "Multidimensional Reports" and click the create button as shown below:
You can select the Custom query and INA Service and publish it as shown below:
While publishing you need to select the Business Catalog and you can create a Custom Tile.
You can see the results on loading the app. based on Multidimensional Analysis grid:
