Outgoing payment is sent by a payer for services or supplies provided by the a payee. The payer pays invoices in the flow of outgoing payment. After reading this blog post, you will learn about the workflow and implementation of PIX outgoing payment.

This blog post mainly covers the specific features of PIX payment in Brazil which are delivered by contract accounting (FI-CA).

Workflow of outgoing payments

The flowchart above showed the process of payment from payers.

  1. Post documents: Payers can choose one of two types of invoices: PIX transfer or PIX QR payment.

    • If you pay by PIX transfer, you will choose payment method without ISRin our example is payment method 5.

    • If you pay by QR code, you will choose payment method with ISR, in our example is payment method 6 with filling in the URL leading to QR code, or TXID. For example, in the Transaction FPE1 you click the Payment Supplement button as below, filling either TXID or URL. The limitation of length of TXID is up to 25 characters and of URL is up to 77 characters. You can see the URL or TXID in Transaction FPE3 in payment data group box.

  2. Payment Run (Debit Memo Run): Execute a payment run using Transaction FPY1. Ensure the appropriate payment method is selected.

  3. Payment medium files: Files are generated in the Format CNAB240. You will get either a file with segment A & B or segment J & J-52.

    • PIX transfer is with two options - PIX Key and bank account transfer

      • PIX Key: The PIX keys will be taken from master data of Business Partner. Examples of PIX keys are CNPJ, CPF, EMAIL, PHONE, and RANDOMKEY.

      • Bank account transfer: Fill in the bank account number and tax number.

    • QR payment - Files with segments J and J52: You will get this file when you post the document and click PIX info to fill in PIX URL or Transaction ID. In J52 Segment, we divide into two categories:

      • Static QR code – only existing TXID which is part of QR code

      • Dynamic QR code – only existing URL accessible to QR code

  4. Clearance of invoices: After the payers send the payment medium files to the bank, the bank will execute the transfer and send the CNAB240 return Bank Statement if the payment is without problems. The payer can later upload the Bank Statement in transaction FF_5 and FPB7.

CNAB240

Content of file CNAB240 depends on type of payments

  • PIX transfer is with segment A & B

  • QR payment is with segment J & J-52

The comparison table of two usages is as below:

CNAB240 Usage Pix transfer QR Payment
Scenarios Segment A & B Segment J & J-52
Source of payment details Details about beneficiary is taken from business partners (ex: PIX key etc.) and are part of segment B. Details about registered QR code is taken from legacy system (I.e non-SAP system).
Documents The payable documents are generated within FI-CA. The payable documents are external documents generated either in legacy system or delivered as incoming invoices.

Technical information

Prerequisites

You have created a payment method for your outgoing payments by selecting in transaction SPRO: Financial Accounting > Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable > Business Transaction > Payment > Incoming/Outgoing Payment Creation > Define Payment Methods with the following settings:

  • Countries/ Regions: BR

  • Payment method: create payment methods for PIX payment by clicking New Entries.

    • For PIX transfer: In the Payment method classification group box, ensure that the ISR Payment Procedure checkbox is not selected. Choose Bank Account as the processing type. In the Required master record classification group box, select the Bank Details checkbox. Finally, you enter BR_FEBRABAN_A as the format and PIX as the format supplement in the Payment medium section.

    • For QR paymentsIn the Payment method classification group box, select the ISR Payment Procedure checkbox. Choose Bank Account as the processing type. In the Required master record classification group box, select the Bank Details checkbox. Finally, you enter BR_FEBRABAN_A as the format and PIX as the format supplement in the Payment medium section.

  • Enter the agreement number as a user ID for DME in Customizing for Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable under Business Transactions > Payments > Incoming/Outgoing Payment Creation > Payment Medium > Define User IDs for Bank Transactions. The agreement number is then inserted in the CNAB240 payment file.

  • Activate the FKK_BR_PMNT_FEBRABAN_0655 event in transaction FQEVENTS. This event validates and rejects payments during the payment run in case you posted a document to, for example, an incorrect technical bank. The event rejects these items to be paid via PIX.
