Recently, the Rise Into the Future event showcased the success stories of leading companies that made the move to the cloud and reaped the benefits of increased agility and innovation.
In this blog, we will delve into the key takeaways from the event and explore how these organizations thrived in the digital era by embracing RISE with SAP.
Several world-renowned SAP customers across various industries were highlighted in the virtual event showcasing their successful transition to the cloud:
Each company reported significant benefits from their migration to the cloud.
Modern businesses are facing increasing pressure from customers, investors, employees, and regulators to follow strict emission mandates and tight regulations. With this pressure from various stakeholders that all demand to prioritize sustainability and more environmental responsibility, companies are turning to technologies to help them track and manage their sustainability efforts.
SAP’s Jan Gilg explained that “With Green Ledger, SAP S/4HANA Cloud becomes the heart of the sustainable enterprise. This enables businesses to monitor the costs upfront, prompting them to make key decisions about the value chain more proactively.”
It is clear that by tintegrating sustainability practices into their core operations, businesses not only meet regulatory mandates but also lead the way for a more environmentally conscious future.
SAP’s new generative AI assistant, Joule was also showcased at the event, showing how it is integrated across SAP's entire enterprise portfolio. This enables businesses to eliminate repetitive and time-consuming tasks for their employees, enhancing processes from human resources to finance, supply chain, procurement, and customer experience.
SAP’s Jan Gilg explained: “We are committed to helping your business drown out the noises and challenges associated with running a successful business. For example, liquidity challenges, supply chain fragility, rising energy costs, talent shortages, or changing government regulations amid geopolitical tensions.”
With Rise with SAP, users can leverage the cloud technologies delivered by SAP and our partners and make use of the benefits of enhanced flexibility, agility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. to thrive in dynamic business environments.
The recently announced RISE with SAP Migration and Modernization Program was spotlighted as the methodology to help customers optimize, orchestrate, integrate, and automate.
Eric Van Rossum, SAP's Chief Marketing Officer for Cloud ERP explained: “They need to drive the tangible business outcome, and that changes a lot depending on whether a customer is coming from ECC, or they've already started their S/4 journey, whether on-premises or with a hyperscale”. Van Rossum continued, “The second barrier is the cost associated with infrastructure, services, and maintenance. We are addressing both challenges with the RISE with SAP Migration and Modernization Program.”.
Every SAP customer’s journey to cloud ERP is different. The expanded RISE with SAP Migration and Modernization Program acknowledges and celebrates these differences.
As Navneet Mirshra, Global Head of Service Portfolio and Strategy for Cloud ERP explained, “No matter what industry or segment customers belong to, we hear loud and clear from them about the need for a business case, predictability of scale, and return on investment.”
“The clean core concept is a mindset.” says Navneet Mishra. It focuses on modern design approaches for business processes, integration scenarios, and data architecture in a stable and transparent platform. A clean core allows for faster software deployment and easier adoption of updates, while also helping to minimize technical debt and prepare organizations for maximizing strategic benefits and cost savings.
“We're committed to helping customers drive tangible business outcomes and reduce costs so they can move forward with confidence.”
- Eric Van Rossum, SAP's Chief Marketing Officer for Cloud ERP
There was a great panel of experts who delved into the essential components of successful business transformation: process, people, and products. McKinsey’s Rob Cain emphasized the crucial role of Gen AI and shed light on the importance of strategic decision-making by leveraging cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead in today's competitive marketplace.
Cain further added: “CEOs and boards are increasingly looking to technology, both legacy investments in technology and potential future investments in technology and digital, especially with Gen AI.”
Many companies follow traditional innovation cycles and methods for generating ideas and developing products, but they are increasingly embracing technology tools for driving business transformation. Cain explained that the second thing that CEOs and the C-level suite look for is the technology to drive increased productivity to drive greater forms of automation and create opportunities for insights to quicken decision-making. Lastly, the third bucket is the ability to leverage technology for innovation. And ERP is a foundational glue that ties these elements.
The best boardroom chats should not just be about how to use AI technology, but also about its impact. Executives need to consider how it will affect their customers, employees, community, and the environment. It's important to not only think about how to benefit from AI but also about how to use it responsibly.
In the event, we learnt how the RISE with SAP migration and modernization program helps customers drive tangible business outcomes with their cloud transformation and reduce the associated costs. This migration program is about much more than just moving from on-premise to the cloud.
Geoff Scott, CEO and Act Evangelist said: “It's also about business process rejuvenation and business process modernization. It's about opening possibilities for your businesses with new technologies, making sure that your business processes match up to what SAP is doing, and making sure that as a customer.”
A high-tech company Lexmark, one of the event speakers, wanted to improve visibility through greater automation and standardization and get the full benefits of the cloud hyperscalers in terms of stability and security. The company went live in August 2023.
Yves Gautier, IT director and Lead of the SAP Excellency Team at Lexmark said: “Our SAP S/4HANA database production size was pretty large, around six terabytes for ECC and for BW. SAP at that time had just released a HANA large instance on Microsoft Azure. So, this was the ideal sheet for our complex needs as it was already architected and operationalized by SAP.”
With the initial migration and the software subscription corresponding to the new needs, Lexmark achieved a %15 reduction of the ongoing total cost of ownership. With Rise with SAP migration, Lexmark harmonized all operating systems with consistent database releases and brought up-to-date support packs.
