SAP offers a revolutionary way to handle banking transactions with SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity based on integration services deployed in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This service provides a Financial Services Network that directly connects the customer SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system with the Financial Services Institutions (FSIs), providing a secure and efficient digital channel. It also offers embedded SWIFT connectivity.
One of the key benefits of this solution is that it automates all the manual and error-prone steps associated with the execution and reconciliation of payments, order-to-cash applications, and order-entry documents. The payment status and cash positions are automatically updated in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system once updates are available from the banks. As a result, it provides measurable improvement to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity is an additional license that provides a managed onboarding service that helps you complete all the necessary tasks to configure the data exchange and establish a connection between your SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system and your Financial Services Institutions.
SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity exposes two system landscapes: test and production.
During the Onboarding process to SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity, two connections will be set up:
The MBC Setup is based on a phased onboarding approach:
Purpose: This phase determines the optimal setup best suited for your use case.
Roles involved: Customer and MBC Scoping Team
Activities: The MBC Scoping team collaborates with the customer to ensure a shared understanding of the objectives, constraints, and requirements. The customer receives the “Scoping Questionnaire,” which contains the required information to collect from the FSIs.
Purpose: Prepare all necessary certificates, confirm SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition configuration readiness, and obtain technical connectivity details from your FSIs.
Roles involved: Customer and MBC Onboarding Team.
Activities: The customer receives the Preboarding documentation (Welcome Pack, To-do Checklist, and Bank Connection (if applicable)). The customer collects the information requested in the preboarding documentation from the FSIs and SWIFT (if applicable). Once the preboarding documentation is completed, please email the MBC Onboarding Team.
Purpose: The SAP MBC Onboarding Team configures your test tenant connectivity between your FISs and the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system.
Roles involved: Customer and the MBC Onboarding Project Team (CSM - Customer Success Manager and TIE – Technical Integration Engineer)
Activities: The Scoping and Preboarding phase must be closed. The MBC Onboarding Project Team consists of one CSM and one TIE, which will be assigned directly to the customer. The SAP MBC Onboarding Team will set up the MBC connections with the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system and the FSIs, and SWIFT (if applicable). Tests are executed.
Purpose: Validation of the end-to-end process.
Roles involved: Customer and the MBC Onboarding Project Team (CSM - Customer Success Manager and TIE – Technical Integration Engineer)
Activities: The validation of the end-to-end process in the test systems is a critical step in ensuring the success of our onboarding process. Upon successful sign-off, you will seamlessly transition to the Promotion to Production phase.
Purpose: Penny test and Set up the Production system.
Roles involved: Customer and the MBC Onboarding Project Team (CSM - Customer Success Manager and TIE – Technical Integration Engineer)
Activities: The production system is fully set up, and the penny test has been successfully executed to verify the correct processing of upcoming payments. Once everything is confirmed, the onboarding process will be concluded, and you will be promptly handed over to the SAP global support team.
