Intelligent Automation for SAP Business ByDesign 22.05: Two small things which may change a lot

Upon the fact that most of us already got familiar with SAP Best Practices for Intelligent  Automation for SAP Business ByDesing and that more and more of customers and partners finds interest in this new opportunity it is good time to add two more things which will increase your freedom and flexibility to build even more automated processes for our SAP Business ByDesign tenants.

Let’s start with some short recap first. Together with release 2108 of SAP Business ByDesign we have unveiled first set of bots. For those who did not have a chance to look into that I would like to invite to read again this comprehensive article. Later during the year we’ve been providing you with new bots or improvements to existing functionalities. One of very important to note feature was delivery of Document Information Extraction service at no extra costs, described In this 21.11 blog.

Building automation for SAP Business ByDesign was never easier, but we did not say the last word on that. Today with release 2205 of SAP Business ByDesign we are bringing two more important updates:

1. Bots triggered via Application Programming Interface (API)Till today we had an opportunity to choose between attended and unattended scheduled bots, the first option is to run a bot with interaction of the user, while the other allowed to run them without user interaction through scheduler.
   Now we are adding third option to trigger the unattended bots via API call to make the process even more automated. Shortly speaking, the new type of API trigger opens a dedicated endpoint that allows to start the execution of a process or an automation. The new API on SAP Business ByDesign side is provided to enable triggering of bots.I believe that this will help to further reduce user effort in building new processes where the applications are “talking directly”, completely without user interaction.

2. Use own templates in the Document Information Extraction.
   
   Another feature which is now available for SAP Business ByDesign users is a possibility of creating your own templates instead of using predefined schemas or pre-trained models.
   

   The setup is user friendly and put into the step-by-step procedure. This will add more flexibility to operate with various types of templates.
