Financial accounting in the heart and core of every business. To showcase a full spectrum of financial accounting functionalities in SAP S/4HANA, we have developed a learning journey – Outlining the Finance Overview in SAP S/4HANA. This learning journey can be found on our new learning platform, learning.sap.com. The aim of this learning journey is to give you the foundational knowledge and make you familiar with all important concepts of financial accounting in SAP S/4HANA.
This learning journey is based on 4 pillars of financial accounting:
- Record-to-Report
- Payables Management
- Receivables Management
- Asset Accounting.
Let’s start with the Record-to-Report. Have you ever wondered what does Universal Journal mean? Or maybe you are interested in segments and profit centers? How about creating great financial statements, like balance sheet and profit & loss? Well, all these aspects belong to the Record-to-Report process and to the single source of truth about company’s financial operations - the General Ledger.
What about our financial operations with business partners? Most of the time we have suppliers who provide us with goods we need to keep our business running, and at the same time we also have customers who buy our products or services. From the accounting perspective, these dimensions are seen as
payables and receivables respectively. Here you can find out how to process incoming invoices or how to generate outgoing invoices. You will also find out how to track performance of your payables and receivables with the help of some crucial KPIs.
Finally, you company might have some valuable possessions that help you run your business, in other words –
assets. For example, your computers, office buildings or any industrial machinery. Since these assets are a backbone to your business, they also need to be considered in you company’s financial accounting. Figure out about the lifecycle of an asset, it’s acquisition, depreciation, and retirement.
Once you complete this learning – you will receive a record of achievement, a digital badge, that you could integrate on social platforms like LinkedIn or directly in your CV.
