Greenhouse Gas Emission Planning Based on Integrated Financial Planning with SAP Analytics Cloud

Therefore, we've enhanced the Integrated Financial Planning business content in SAP Analytics Cloud to seamlessly incorporate CO2 equivalent (CO2e) planning. Our solution allows corporations to manage their environmental footprint strategically alongside their economic sustainability goals. It collates CO2e emissions data with traditional financial metrics, offering a comprehensive overview of a company's operations and impact. This leads not only to the development of environmentally responsible strategies, but also identifies financial risks and costs that go along with GHG emissions.

Custom Configuration of Review Booklets with Review Booklet Designer

Using the Review Booklet Designer, analytics key users can now create custom review booklets. They use this new functionality in the Manage KPIs and Reports app to copy the SAP-delivered review booklet (Group Financial Statements Review Booklet) and adapt it to your reporting needs. In this process, you connect the content of an analytical query with measures, structures, and dimensions and display the results on a business page of the review booklet.

Contract Accounting: Advanced Analysis of Key Figures

To improve usability and performance, the apps available for analysing key performance indicators in Contract Accounting, such as overdue items, have been modernized.

Value Proposition

  • All apps now use analytical list pages that enable you to display the selected data in a table or chart, or a combination of a table and chart.

Insight Cards for Contract Accounting

Capabilities 

  • Using the available filters, you can analyse the data according to your specific needs before taking action in the same app or by navigating to associated apps offered as links.
  • In each app, you can create an insights card for the currently filtered content that is automatically added to your entry page. The card displays the current content dynamically, so you can monitor the KPI analysed by the app at a glance.
  • For most key figures, the system determines the key figures reflecting the current dataset at runtime. As the data volume can be very high, to improve performance, the apps that evaluate payment, clearing, and dunning locks valuate a system snapshot of receivables and payables instead of the current live data. With the Create Snapshot of Locked Open Items app, you create the snapshots evaluated by the apps.

Monitoring Instant Balances for bank accounts enables bank account balances to be updated and monitored on demand directly from the associated banks' APIs through SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity.

Finance Operations: Regular Expressions in Conditions of Processing Rules for Bank Statements and Lockbox Files

The bank statement processing and lockbox processing features of SAP S/4HANA Cloud now also offer the possibility to add regular expressions in conditions of processing rules.

Value Proposition

  • Increase the amount of automatically and manually processed bank statement items and lockbox items by defining more precise conditions and patterns for memo lines
  • Reduce the number of individual processing rules you need to maintain and manage because processing rules now contain more exactly defined conditions that can cover multiple cases

Asset Accounting: BAdI for Influencing Depreciation Calculation for Fixed Assets

As of release SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2402, the following Business Add-In (BAdI) is available: Fixed Asset: Depreciation Calculation (FAA_DC_UPA_CUSTOMER).

You can use this BAdI to influence the depreciation calculation according to your requirements. The BAdI is released for developer extensibility and therefore only available in a 3-system landscape. The BAdI is a single-use BAdI, meaning that only one active implementation is possible.

Value Proposition

  • Increases flexibility for customers to make changes to predefined depreciation calculation methods from an external source
  • Improves data accuracy and reduces costs (compared to manual processing of fixed asset depreciation posting data) by automatically changing depreciation calculation methods in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud system

Capabilities 

You can use the BAdI to influence the asset depreciation calculation in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud system in the following ways:

  • Specify changeover year and period, that is, the time when the change from a depreciation method takes place
  • Influence Rounding
  • Define a minimum remaining book value
  • Set a maximum base value
  • Define the maximum depreciation amount

Asset Accounting: API for Asset Retirement Postings

As of release SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2402, the API Fixed Asset – Post Asset Retirement is available. The API is an OData version 4 service. It belongs to communication scenario SAP_COM_0563.

Value Proposition

  • Increases flexibility for asset retirement postings
  • Improves data accuracy compared to manual entry of retirement postings
  • Reduces costs compared to manual entry of retirement postings

Capabilities 

The service enables you to make postings for the following transactions:

  • Asset retirement with revenue
  • Asset retirement without revenue

The transactions covered by this service are the same as those from the app Post Asset Retirement (F7107).

Accounting for U.S. Insurance Carriers: Additional Posting Dimensions and Chart of Account

Financial accounting for U.S. insurance carriers offers additional posting dimensions and a U.S.-specific chart of accounts to ensure a U.S. GAAP-compliant multidimensional accounting approach resulting in correct balance sheets and income statements for U.S. insurance carriers.

Value Proposition

  • Enable a multidimensional accounting approach for U.S. insurance carriers based on reporting dimensions instead of additional accounts
  • Easy-to-use as insurance-specific enhancements are directly and seamlessly integrated into the core financial processes 
  • Help ensure the accuracy of the balance sheets and income statements of U.S. insurance carriers

Additional Posting Dimensions

Capabilities 

  • Enable balance sheets and income statements for insurance carriers operating in the U.S. based on U.S. GAAP:
    • Addition of new accounts to the default chart of accounts YCOA that are relevant only for insurance carriers
    • New field status groups to control the visibility and editability of these fields and dimensions
    • Insurance-specific accounts each taken into account in a financial statement version tailored to the requirements of insurance carriers
  • Enable new additional accounting dimensions in general ledger line items and analytical reports needed for insurance carriers: product group, branch, data source, customer country/region, customer group, customer industry
  • Support flexible hierarchies for the dimension product group for analytics and reporting

Accounting for U.S. Banks: Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation

Financial accounting enhancements for U.S. banks now also offers content for ICMR. Based on a U.S.-specific chart of accounts and a U.S. GAAP-compliant multidimensional accounting approach, this also enables intercompany-specific reconciliations.

Value Proposition

  • Streamline and accelerate intercompany reconciliation processes for U.S. banks during financial closing
  • Ensure seamless matching of total line items for cross-company code transactions within partner banks
  • Enhance the accuracy of the balance sheets and income statements of U.S. banks in intercompany cases
  • Facilitate the identification of banking-specific accounts 
  • Improve the handling of banking-specific dimensions including a more flexible upload of definitions and the secure deletion of dimensions that are no longer required

Manage Assignment in Intercompany Matching and Reconciliations

Capabilities 

  • Apply matching rules and methods for U.S. banks for intercompany-related postings
  • Define rules and workflows to control which matching criteria apply, such as which postings are considered for which accounts, whether only exact amount matches are allowed or matches within a given tolerance are also allowed
  • Initiate, establish, and oversee matching processes to ensure smooth operation 
  • Verify and validate automated matching results through an approval, rejection, and rechecking mechanism 
  • Assign all banking-specific accounts to their own banking-specific account groups
  • Post to banking-specific additional ICMR-related accounts
