Investigations help in identifying the underlying causes of accidents or incidents, whether they are related to human factors, equipment failure, procedural errors, or environmental conditions. This thorough analysis is essential to develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
In the same way, properly managing investigations ensures compliance with legal requirements and regulatory standards. It demonstrates an organization's commitment to investigating incidents thoroughly and taking necessary actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This new 2408 release enables you to manage investigations of workplace incidents and document investigation results in a dedicated app. With the new “Manage Investigations” app (F7969), you can work on investigation records without needing authorization to edit the related incident records; you only need read access to the incidents.
You can plan the investigation process, set up an investigation team, collect evidence, analyze root causes, and make recommendations for ways to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Demo 1: Empower expert users to document the investigation results without access to the incident.
For more information, see Manage Investigations.
This feature will not automatically be available in your system but requires that you activate the new investigation process for the Incident Management (FTGL_IM_EHSPROD_6421) feature in the Activate Features configuration activity.
For more information, see Activate Features.
Note
After you activate the feature, you can only benefit from its full functionality if you also activate the overview page (OVP) floorplan for the “Edit Incident” app.
Integration between the new “Manage Investigations” app and the “Edit Incident” app is only available for the OVP floorplan.
You can activate the OVP floorplan using the Activate Overview Page Floorplan (New) configuration activity in your configuration environment.
For more information, see Configuration Environment of SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is a method that focuses on analyzing job tasks to proactively identify hazards before they result in injuries. This approach highlights understanding the relationship between the worker, the task at hand, the tools and equipment being used, and implementing controls to reduce or eliminate potential hazards.
By sharing investigation findings, best practices, and lessons learned, organizations can promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk management.
With this new 2408 release, we introduced a new SAP Fiori app “Manage Job Hazard Analyses”(F7896), With this innovative app, users can:
Demo 2: Define jobs and their job steps together with all of the hazards involved in each job step.
To make a risk assessment type available in the “Manage Job Hazard Analyses” app, it must be defined and marked as Job-based in the corresponding configuration activity Configure Risk Assessment Types.
For more information, see Manage Job Hazard Analyses.
The EHS in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition incorporates a dedicated Task Management solution that leverages SAP Workflow capabilities, enabling the creation of one-time and repetitive tasks with comprehensive functionality.
Tasks are delivered to users as workflow items accessible through the SAP Fiori “My Inbox app”.
Many users have EHS responsibilities that may not require SAP system access, making task management challenging. To address this, "alerting" events are now incorporated within tasks, allowing for automatic email notifications for task owners, assignees, and approvers.
The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2402 release introduces user notifications for real-time updates on task events, ensuring users stay informed of new tasks, assignments, and updates.
With the latest 2408 release, users can create and edit task definitions related to environmental reports, triggering the generation of reports on the task start date for user completion and approval.
With this new 2408 release, you can specify the events that trigger an automatic email notification sent to a task owner, assignee, or approver. You can set up the notifications for reporting tasks as desired so that the right person will receive an email as soon as a task fulfills a pre-specified condition (such as being completed, rejected, past due date, and so on).
Reporting tasks remain open until the environmental report is finalized and approved, streamlining the EHS task management process, and ensuring timely completion of environmental reports.
This makes it easier for the persons assigned to keep track of their tasks.
Demo 3: Automatically inform involved users through e-mail about certain task statuses (task due, task overdue, task done, and so on).
There are predefined email templates for notifying the persons assigned to a task. The required information (for example, task title, task description, location, and due date) is filled in automatically by the system, and the email will be sent as soon as the task fulfills the previously set condition.
These templates are maintained by the system administrator in the “Maintain Email Templates” app. This app can also be used to create and adjust custom templates as a copy of the predelivery ones.
For more information, see Manage Reporting Tasks.
An Overview Page provides a consolidated view of key environmental performance indicators, regulatory requirements, and compliance status in a single interface. This streamlines monitoring processes, allowing for quick assessment of compliance metrics.
In the same way, centralizing environmental data and compliance information on a single platform enhances data visibility across the organization. This visibility enables stakeholders to access real-time information, track progress, and make informed decisions regarding compliance strategies.
This new 2408 release introduces an environmental dashboard to view all data issues with exceedances, warnings, and missing data collected within the Environment Management component from the last six months.
The “Environment Management Overview” dashboard contains five data viewing cards, which you can drag and drop in the order that you want to display the data on the screen. Three of the cards show a month-by-month graph of data issues that are found in the system from the last six months (counted back from the current date).
These numbers are collected for the location structure (including all sublocations) that the environmental manager is responsible for. This allows you, as the environmental manager, to access this data quickly and easily, all in one place.
For the cards displaying data:
you can choose whether you want to display the collected data, calculated data, or aggregated data.
Demo 4: Display critical environmental performance insights so managers can monitor and take proactive corrective actions.
This card contains navigation links to the following apps:
Manage Compliance Scenario - You can navigate here to view or edit the activities collecting data for your location, as well as assign or unassign environmental limits.
Monitor Data - Environment Management - You can navigate here to view and process the data issues shown in the overview.
Compliance Analysis - You can navigate here to view existing compliance requirement tasks.
Manage Compliance Requirements - Regulations, Permits, Policies - You can navigate here to view and edit compliance requirements and their environmental limits (which control when data exceedances and warnings are created).
