Since CE2208, a new functionality of discontinuation in Sales Scheduling Agreements is provided, to switch the old product to a new product.
Referred document:
Discontinuation of products in sales scheduling agreements.
In CE2302, new features are provided to discontinue the product(sales scheduling agreement item) based on certain quantities.
Features
The quantity based indicators are provided, to switch the products or items, to carry out the demands of old products. To active the quantities, you need to switch the existing date or time based discontinuation rule to the quantity based ones,
here we are taking the forecast delivery as an example to illustrate the behaviors.
Figure 1: Quantity Switching
Before setting the Discontinuation of the source item in
Call Control Parameter: The schedule lines are maintained as the following table:

Here you can see that all schedule lines are planning and delivering relevant, that is current product is used to fulfill the customer demand.
Discontinuation Quantity
The
Discontinuation Quantity indicates the quantity threshold for cumulative released quantity within a specified period. The system will discontinue the current item when this threshold is exceeded. After maintaining the discontinuation quantity, the fiscal year will be determined automatically according to the current system fiscal year. Within this time period, the total release quantity is accumulated and comparing this accumulative quantity with the discontinuation quantity. Then the current source item can be decided to discontinue or not.
Figure 2: Discontinuation Quantity
When updating the delivery schedule as well as schedule lines, the system will set corresponding schedule line categories according to the threshold of discontinuation quantity.
Here the system has 2 cases to process the schedule lines:
Case 1: Keeping the schedule lines
If you want to discontinue the current source item after releasing
100 pieces, you can configure the rule of discontinuation quantity as 100 in
Call Control Parameter:
Figure 3: Discontinuation Quantity: 100
Then after the setting, the schedule lines would be redetermined as:
Schedule Line Date |

Only the schedule line of 01.12.2023 will reach the targeted discontinuation quantity, that is, the current schedule line is available for the old product. And following schedule lines will be carried to new items with new products.
Case 2: Splitting the schedule lines
If you want to discontinue the current source item after releasing
130 pieces, you can configure the rule of discontinuation quantity as 150 in
Call Control Parameter:
Figure 4: Discontinuation Quantity: 130
Then after the setting, the schedule lines would be redetermined as:

The schedule line of 01.17.2023 will split into 2 with order open quantities as 30 and 70. The first 2 schedule lines can target discontinuation quantity, that is, the current schedule lines are available for the old product, and another 70 pieces of 01.17.2023 as well as following schedule lines will be carried out to new items with new products.
Remaining Quantity
The
Remaining Quantity indicates the availability of the old product. When you realize the current old product will be out of stock with a certain quantity, then the new product will be used. You can set this quantity as the remaining quantity.
After the remaining quantity is set, the system will automatically set the discontinuation quantity, that is:
Discontinuation Quantity = Remaining Quantity + Cumulative Delivered Quantity(Delivery Schedule)
and the corresponding schedule lines of the old product will be kept or split. This 's the same behavior with
Discontinuation Quantity.
You have delivered
250 pieces of product and you want to discontinue the current source item once the remaining quantity is
30 pieces, you can configure the rule of remaining quantity as 30 in
Call Control Parameter:
Figure 5: Remaining Quantity
After setting the
Remaining Quantity, the
Discontinuation Quantity is derived based on the Cumulative Delivered Quantity.
And schedule lines would be redetermined as:

Summary
With this feature, you can maintain different quantity based discontinuation products in one sales scheduling agreement, to avoid too many sales scheduling agreements maintenance in the system.
