Since multiple years SAP collects anonymous user feedback in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. To tell the anonymous user directly what we did is impossible, therefore this blog is shedding some light on what feedback we received, the actions taken from there and what we intend to do in the next months.

A short repetition on how we collect end-user feedback in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Since 2020 we allow all users to provide feedback to SAP by clicking the feedback button in the top right area of your SAP screen. Additionally we started to push surveys (in average once a months) to end-users. Either rather generic questions on satisfaction, usability and usefulness via time-controlled surveys to all users or application triggered questions to only users of specific applications. In the later case we can either collect the more generic feedback, e.g. to better understand how an improvement is appreciated, or we can ask very specific questions to better understand the users preferences. Additionally, we also had asked in the time-controlled survey questions on user enablement/help or in regards to automation and intelligence to better understand how our users do experience the applications and to prioritize or bring up new improvement ideas.

As a result, there are multiple, often small ideas, that users share with us and that we appreciate and implement or put on our development plan:

  • In the applications "Transfer Stock - in Plant" (F1061) and "Manage Stock" (F1062) we put the implementation of editable fields on the roadmap, as users explained us a specific situation, where the originally taken defaults forces them into unnecessary work, that can be avoided.
  • The application "Create Billing Documents" (F0798) is planned to be improved in multiple aspects. A standalone button should allow the creation of proforma invoices, give more flexibility to add filtering options and finding a more prominent place for the PDF preview button. The better placement of the PDF preview button is also put on the roadmap for "Manage Billing Documents" (F0797), but additional item specific filtering options are planned.
  • A very tangible example in "Reprocess Bank Statement Items" (F1520) to the specific question "is there any information you miss on the screen that would make the application more supportive for your task?" one user suggested the VAT number. We now plan to add the VAT number to the worklist with 2502.

Why did I talk about these small examples? Because you should know that we care also about the small suggestions that make your life easier, we take them serious and we work diligently on improving our product!

During the time from September 2023 through March 2024 we asked automation related questions and received more than 300 detailed comments where either users had been happy or where they suggested application specific ideas for improvement. Allowing mass changes or directly using the right default values already well describes how the usage of apps becomes efficient. While there was not that one big and genius idea, there were many solid suggestions where development can get very concrete ideas on how to improve a specific application.

For the next six months we plan to occasionally ask questions on SAP Joule, the AI copilot. Our intention is to collect your feedback on where Joule could help you in your daily work, how intuitive the interaction is and how satisfied you are in general with the answers you receive. We encourage you to provide continuously your feedback to help SAP to continuously improve our product.

Additionally please also feel free to comment here on how you like SAP to ask the people working in our product about their opinion?  Would you see special occasions, ehere we should ask the user? Would you like to provide personal feedback, so we could contact you directly? We appreciate your comments!
