Navigating a fast-paced world can truly feel like trying to sail on unpredictable seas. Just like experienced sailors who use advanced navigation systems to adapt to changing weather conditions and unexpected obstacles, businesses need an equivalent tool to steer their course in the ever-evolving business landscape. This is where SAP Central Business Configuration comes into play. This tool allows you to adapt to ongoing changes and innovations in a highly automated, easy, and reliable way.

SAP Central Business Configuration is envisioned to allow you to configure business processes that span across different SAP cloud solutions, all from one central place. It already supports the configuration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, but further aims at seamless implementation of end-to-end business processes across SAP’s cloud portfolio.

Key Benefits

    • Centralization and standardization: Consolidate your configuration settings and data into a single, centralized location. This approach enables standardization across SAP solutions in future, promoting consistency and reducing duplicate efforts.
    • Flexibility and agility: Respond to changing business requirements by adding new countries/regions, business processes, or organizational units to your scope anytime. Stay competitive by continuously configuring your business processes whenever needed.
    • Accelerated implementation: Benefit from faster implementation through preconfigured business configuration.
    • Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO): Accelerated implementation time along with the option to easily adjust your scope and configuration settings does not only save you valuable time, but also reduces your total cost of ownership.

Unlock Global Potential with the Configuration Localization Tool

Navigating the complexities of implementing enterprise software systems across various countries and regions can be a daunting task. One crucial aspect of this process is localization, which involves tailoring the software to meet local legal, regulatory, and cultural requirements. Luckily, SAP offers around 60 standard local versions that simplify this process and make it more accessible. However, if your business operates in countries that are not covered by SAP's standard offering, you may have faced significant challenges in the past. Manual efforts in on-premise projects were once the norm, and this was not possible in the public cloud. But now, with the introduction of the Configuration Localization Tool embedded in SAP Central Business Configuration, the process has become hassle-free.

The approach of implementing new countries and regions that are not localized by SAP is called localization as a self-service for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. You can activate these countries with preconfigured content based on SAP Best Practices, giving you a head start in implementing localized operations in a wider range of countries worldwide. While the technical localization is taken care of, partners and customers customize the country from a business perspective. This self-service localization not only expands your country coverage but also saves you from the manual efforts associated with on-premise projects in the past.

Note: The Configuration Localization Tool is currently only available to selected customers. Stay tuned for its general availability.

Enhance Business Configuration More Flexibly with the Parallel Line

The parallel line is an upcoming feature in SAP Central Business Configuration for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, 3-system landscape, which enables you to make business configuration enhancements more flexibly without affecting your daily operations. With this feature, SAP Central Business Configuration will feed configuration settings into two lines:

  • The main line is used for your initial implementation and daily operations, enabling you to define your scope, set up your organizational structure, configure and test your business processes, and finally use them productively.
  • The parallel line is used to make business configuration enhancements and test them safely in a separate environment, without impacting the daily operations in your main line. To this end, your project is copied, including all your business configuration. Once you’ve made and tested all enhancements, you can merge them back into your main line. This is particularly useful for the rollout of new countries/regions or other larger business configuration enhancements.

The parallel line comes with a host of benefits. First of all, you can better predict how changes impact the production system. Currently, you make all changes in a single main line. With the parallel line, you have two additional tenants for optimal flexibility in configuring and testing. This gives you a clearer picture about how changes will impact your implementation, which comes in handy especially in complex customizing projects.

Secondly, you gain more flexibility in project handling. Currently, when you initiate change, configuration is on hold until you’ve completed all changes. With the parallel line, you can continue working on configuration activities in your main line while making business configuration enhancements in your parallel line. This gives you the option to prioritize urgent business configuration changes.

Thirdly, the parallel line ensures seamless lifecycle management. Potential dependencies between transport requests in SAP S/4HANA Cloud may affect lifecycle management. With the parallel line, the transport and maintenance of SAP Best Practices preconfiguration content run more smoothly so that updates reach the production system more promptly to bring the latest innovations.

Note: The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, 3-system landscape, parallel line is currently only available to selected customers. Stay tuned for its general availability.
