Change Record is the central object within Change Management. The Change record contains,
We can create Change Master for the Change record. The information from change record can be copied to the change master synchronously.
In the Change Record we can configure customized status profile, Business Workflow Scenarios, Process Route (based on BRF plus), Digital Signature etc
In this blog the Creation and Maintenance of inspection plans with change records (CR) is explained in detail.
Customization
The below mentioned customizations are required.
IMG path Logistics General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> Change Records -> Basic Settings > Execute Activity Define Object Types
Maintain Object type for Inspection Plan INP with BAdI Definition Name /PLMI/CR_ACCESS_INSP_PLAN_CAT
IMG path Logistics General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> Change Records -> Basic Settings> Execute Activity Define Object Categories
Maintain Object category INP_ERP [Inspection Plan ERP] with Object Type: INP
IMG path Logistics General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> Change Records -> Settings for Engineering Changes > Execute Activity Define Item Relevance
Maintain item relevance entries CHG (Change), CRE (Create)

Maintain the User Statuses, User Status Actions and User Status Profile

Maintain custom change record type ZIP for application CR. This change record type is used to control changes of the inspection plans.
Maintain Object type INP is assigned as reference object

Maintain the following item relevance entries for object type INP - CRE (Create),CHG (Change)
IMG path Logistics General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> Change Records -> Settings for Engineering Changes > Execute Activity Define Engineering Change Record Type> Change Number Handling
Mark Create Change Number as active for the relevant status.
On the Creation Attribute map the values that needs to be copied from Change Record to Change Number.
Assign the profile that need to be used in the change number.
Maintain Deactivate Change Number as active for the relevant status.
We can also setup digital signature for the relevant user status.

Step 3: Create Inspection Plan with Change Master / Change Number
Step 4: Release Changes - Close Change Record
